Welcome to the Movie Media column - trailers, posters, and clips for upcoming films. Some are nice and fresh, some aren't. However, they all have something in common - they caught my attention, for better or worse. If there is a poster or trailer you think I should check out, be sure to let me know, and I will see what I can do.

This week includes a new poster for a long completed film starring a former wrestler, a fairy tale themed tween comedy, a movie about losing your job, a summer blockbuster hitting the really big screen, and a teaser for a new Coppola film. All that and more!

Southland Tales - Poster

How long has this been in the can? I cannot claim to have followed this production all that closely, but I seem to remember reading that it was finished like one or two years ago. It stars Dwayne Johnson (better known as The Rock), Seann William Scott, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. It is the second feature from Richard Kelly who burst on the scene in 2001 with the cult hit Donnie Darko. Anyway, here is the poster for it, which I can honestly say does not excite me in the least. I am interested in the movie based on cast and writer/director. Those unfamiliar with Kelly may look at this and forget it in a matter of seconds. See what I mean:

Sydney White - Poster

A new poster has been released for the new Amanda Bynes flick, the Snow White-inspired Sydney White. I cannot say it will be any good, and I am likely not in its target audience, but Bynes is a cute screen presence, proven with this past summer's musical hit Hairspray. Anyway, here's the poster.

Transformers - IMAX Poster

Dominating the summer box office just wasn't enough. Michael Bay and his giant transforming robots have set their sights on the giant screens of IMAX theaters around the country. The movie is making its IMAX debut on September 21, and to announce it there is a brand new poster.

30 Days of Night - Poster, Trailer

This October we are going to get a new vision of vampires on the big screen. It is based on a popular graphic novel and presents a tale of survival horror in the cold north. The look is a little reminiscent of The Thing. A trio of new posters have come out featuring its splatter-filled vision. Here is one of them, along with the long available trailer.
