TasteTV: Dark Dining - Dinner in Complete Darkness

Have you ever eaten dinner in complete darkness? Take a look at SF Dark, and see why taste means everything in the dark!

Dark dining is a new trend in Europe, Asia, and cities in the U.S. like New York and LA, and takes you into another realm of dining, one where all of your senses are expanded and you focus on the food, the taste, the sound, the company, and more... because you are dining completely in the dark.

Dark dining is not low light dining, it is no light dining! During the evening, for two entire hours, you will eat, drink, talk, and enjoy entertainment in complete and total darkness. In the recipe for dark dining the flavors and textures of your food will take on an entirely new dimension, as will the quality of your conversation (or perhaps of your date).

In the TasteTV-sponsored Dark Dining event in the following video, the San Francisco Bay Area chef was Lisa Hines of Bella Cucina Cafe — soon to be a celebrity chef — and the wine served was Silver Stone Winery's delicious Pinot Noir.

Chef Lisa Ruggieri Hines is an up-and-coming name in Bay Area food circles. The owner of the Bella Cucina Café in the Marin city of San Rafael, Chef Hines' food has developed a strong following. She was the talented chef who catered for the crew/contestant chefs of Bravo's reality program, Top Chef, during its first season. In addition, she has worked as a consultant for Inside Weddings magazine, and been featured in numerous articles in magazine, print, and television (including on TasteTV). Her commitment to freshness and local organic ingredients is evident, and when it comes to the food preparation, her contextual, travel-inspired style has won her guests over and over again. Whether it's arugula salad with grilled figs, gorgonzola, roasted pistachios and Zinfandel vinaigrette to herb-crusted wild salmon with artichoke and butternut squash risotto, her food has developed a growing base of fans.

Silver Stone was founded on the premise of selecting the finest varietals and vineyard sites within key growing regions of California's cool coast. Our motto: All Central Coast all the time. Except the Napa Cab.

Owner and winemaker Dan Kleck has been producing premium wines for the past 29 years. He began his career in the mid-1970s, focusing on the Long Island region in New York, where he was involved with Chardonnays, Merlots and other varietals at wineries such as Hargrave Vineyard, Bidwell Vineyards and Palmer Vineyards. The wine has received numerous awards. More about it can be found at Silver Stone Wines.

Highly uncoordinated. The food was tasty but the entrees were cold, the service was abysmal. Not worth the price.
