S&S Records has released the ambitious CD/DVD compilation entitled “The Chicago” LP, as a celebration of Chicago house music. Executive producers Steve “Silk” Hurley & “DJ Skip” have compiled a 2 CD/DVD pack, filled with new and previously unreleased music from legendary dance music artists as well as interviews of some seldom seen, legendary house producers and DJs.

The CD is a true journey into the genre of dance music in general, and Chi-Towns contribution to the music scene as a whole. The DVD documentary that accompanies the CD takes it up a notch with interviews of all the artist involved in the project, making it a musical first in the process. Believe me, this one is packed with special guest. Roy Davis Jr., Marshall Jefferson, Bad Boy Bill, Maurice Joshua, CZR, Syleena Johnson, DJ Slugo, Paul Johnson, Ron Carrol, and DJ Pierre are just a handful of artists that appear.

It really is a heavyweight release, monumental in its scope and amount of club classics and talent. DJs will not have trouble finding a few cuts to rock during their next house set. "Baby Wants To Ride" by Jaime Principal, "Please Believe" by DJ Skip, "Just A Feeling" by Hurley & Marshall Jefferson feat B. Lauren, “Juke It” by DJ Slugo featuring Fast Eddie, “Magic” by Roy Davis Jr. feat. Terry Dexter, and “Siren Trax” by DJ Pierre are just a few of the many cuts, sure to raise the temperature on the floor.

This compilation is a major accomplishment in dance music, as decades worth of house music is represented here. It’s hard to believe that there hasn’t been a release of this nature before, with the tons of personalities and artist behind dance music. With Chicago being a milestone city in house music, this CD/DVD compilation serves as a beginner’s guide to the sound.
