Pimp Your Living Room with a Home Entertainment System
Published July 24, 2007
Presented by WNBC and LX.TV, OpenHouse New York is an original weekly television series about New York's residential real estate market. Hosted by LX.TV's Sara Gore and George Oliphant, OpenHouse New York features weekly access to distinctive and noteworthy properties in the New York tri-state area. The show presents an intimate view of New Yorkers as they search for, purchase, and improve their dream homes.
In this week's "Floorplan", George Oliphant consults with Dave Wasserman of the Stereo Exchange to get a primer on building your own home entertainment system. Dave demystifies the difference between plasma and LCD and explains the pros and cons of each. He discusses off-axis viewing, size consideration, chances of burn-in and repair costs and then offers suggestions for which kind of TV is the best match for your home entertainment system.
After breaking down the TVs, Dave explains the importance of the speaker system you installs and offers his recommendation of the Adobe 5.1
George then consults with Matthew Spiro for advice on space, price, and use considerations before installing your entertainment system.
