Carrie Underwood To Release New Album This Fall

Written by Chris Evans
Published July 20, 2007

It may seem really soon, but if you think about it, it’s been almost two years since Carrie Underwood released her debut album Some Hearts, and apparently she’s been in the studio for a while now working on a follow up to her six times platinum effort. According to reports, Carrie’s second album is slated to come out on October 23, and some are hoping it’ll be more Shania and less Leann.

The album does not currently have a title, but Underwood will be working with Mark Knight who penned most of the tracks on Some Hearts. Knight says she’ll be staying with the country genre with this second CD, but something tells me the songs will be more in the vein of "Before He Cheats" to try to replicate the success of her top 10 hit, which was her first crossover pop radio hit ever.

I enjoyed some of the tracks on Some Hearts – specifically the aforementioned "Before He Cheats," "Jesus Take The Wheel," "Wasted," and even "We’re Young And Beautiful." But to be honest, I found the CD to be quite bland, especially for someone with such a great voice, an I’m hoping they spice up her songs a bit on this next album. I have no problem with her staying country, but I just want the songs to be a little less boring. It was a solid album for a debut, but she’s gonna have to up her game on this next record – especially if she wants to finally become a success somewhere else besides the U.S.

Chris, country radio control everything she does in the future. He first record was okay and she was allowed to cross over without backlash because of the AI backing. But for her second record she needs to be much more traditional or she will see her country airplay cut down.
You can't follow what a huge global star like Shania did. Shania and her husband created all of their own music from scratch and are global icons who have the money and power to do what they want.
Shania's songs are memorable worldwide and classics and thats why she is loved worldwide.
I see CArrie Underwood have a successful career in country music but if she tries to do what Shania did watch out for the huge backlash in country radio.
Only Shania could do what Shania did because Shania doesn't need Nashville, she is a global icon and the biggest country female of alltime.
I think some CArrie fans are expecting too much our of her. Carrie is satisfied being a country artist in North America. just support her and hope for the best in the future for her because new artists come along all the time and then they get the hype.

okay

#3 — July 20, 2007 @ 20:41PM — sally

I agree with william in a way. Carrie's second album needs to be much more country or country radio will see her trying to copy Shania and country radio hates Shania. Shania became too big a global star and did things her way. Thats why Shania can wait 5 years between albums and when she comes back millions of people worldwide can't wait to see what Shania comes up with. Her albums are always events. Shania became a global superstar by being marketed as pop worldwide. Shania just did things her way and created her own sound and genre and was so unique. You can't compare any artist at all to a Shania.Shania is Shania, she has the money to do what she wants and power in the industry.

I enjoyed Carrie's first album. I hope it is more along those lines but a little more traditional. She can be herself and sing more gospel songs, thats they type of songs she sings best. BHC was not her, it looked too fake. she has to be true to herself.

#4 — July 20, 2007 @ 21:33PM — Ann

Carrie Underwood has much the same appeal as Shania in that you don't have to love country music to enjoy hearing her sing.

Country radio never liked Shania, but they loved the new fans she brought to country music and the same has happened with Underwood.

#5 — July 20, 2007 @ 22:49PM — sally

Anne, it is not at all like what Shania did. Shania changed the face of country music and created her own sound. She brought fans worldwide in a massive scale that nobody has even come close to. But Shania has the money and power to do what she wants.
I love Carrie but it is plain absurd to compare anything betwee these two, Shania is a music icon famous worldwide on a huge scale.
Many artists cross over in country music and bring new fans in but Shania did it at the highest level ever and she did it her own way.
Carrie Underwood is a newcomer and controlled by Nashville.
It is time to stop trying to put expectations on Underwood when she is not capable of meeting and she may not want to. She is a country girl and lives in tennesse and is happy with being a country artist.
Lets welcome all new artists but stop with the stupid comparisons. Underwood and TAlyor swift and others have to prove themselves over a decade.
Lets enjoy all the new artists who bring in new fans but lets not be so dumb to try and compare them with a music icon like shania who changed the face of country music worldwide.

#6 — July 21, 2007 @ 00:01AM — Fan of Carrie Underwood!

Oh my goodness, you mention the "S" word and all of "S" fans come out to tell us all AGAIN what a wonder "S" is. The topic is Carrie Underwood's new sophomore album, not what an "icon" (S)hania is.

Personally it will be wonderful to have more of Carrie Underwood in her album. She is said to have co-written a number of the new songs. It will be hard to duplicate the success of "Some Hearts," I bet the pressure is huge.

Here's hoping for much success!

#7 — July 21, 2007 @ 08:17AM — Michael

@ Sally, you wrote "You can't compare any artist at all to a Shania. Shania is Shania, she has the money to do what she wants and power in the industry."

Nice for Shania Twain. I agree that you should not compare one person with another person. But in fact: Many people do.

Shania had a lot of success, due to a perfect marketing (Mutt Lange). I became a Shania Twain fan many years ago when I saw her singing in a big stadium, but have to say: I neither like her music nor her metallic voice, but I do like her personality and some of her texts, and I like her star appeal, and this made her a millionaire. IMO Shania Twain is not a Country singer, she is a pop singer, an average (!) pop singer, but a perfect show star, her concerts are events. And that's it. Show is everything.

Now: Carrie Underwood. She has: A strong voice, brilliant songs, a lovely personality. Of course she is a star! Of course I do compare her with others and with Shania Twain!

Maybe it will be hard for Carrie Underwood to earn the same money, compared to Shania Twain. But musically Carrie seems to be the better one. I definitely prefer her music and her voice. Plus: She is VERY successful. So: Why not compare her with Shania Twain!?

So it is ridiculous in my opininion to put Shania Twain above others. You can put Celine Dion or Prince above others, but not Shania Twain. Shania Twain is a star, not a goddess. Carrie Underwood is another star, musically even better in my opinion, and can become a huge star in Europe as well, if she only wants to.

Advantage Carrie Underwood. I am happy that I found her, her music means a lot to me, much more than any music of Shania Twain ever, as a matter of fact.

My favourite singers: The Beatles, Prince, Kate Bush, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood. Shania Twain is not in my TOP 50, but I like her. Of course I will buy Superstar Carrie Underwood's next album, I think we can expect a lot. Because she is NOT controlled by Nashville (which is another stupid statement by Sally), she perfectly controls herself. And so she will do her very best, and it will be Carrie Underwood, not Nashville.

Sorry for my English, I am German.

#8 — July 21, 2007 @ 13:15PM — Ann

Sally, I was addressing the appeal of how both are so popular with fans who are not die-hard country fans which should be plain in what I said.

Shania has been around for years and I am one of her biggest fans, but comparing her power and wealth to someone like Carrie who is just in the beginning of her career would have been like comparing Shania's first CD which didn't have huge success to that of Garth Brooks after he was so huge.

#9 — July 21, 2007 @ 13:19PM — John

Michael, you make no sense at all. Not only is Shania one of the most successful artists in history she holds world records in over 100 countries. So prince,Celine Dion,Shania, Elton John are all in the same level.
In fact Shania is the first woman in the history of music with back to back diamand albums.
Shania is a megastar worlwide and worth 500 million on her name alone and her huband is woth a billion.
I am a Shania fan which is obvious but to diminish her success and worlwide mega status is quite laughable.
This thread is about Carrie Underwoods new album and how it should sound not about bashing Shania who not only is a goddess to tens of millions worlwide but has reached a level only few artists have like Celine Dion,Maddona,Michael Jackson and others. Shania is one of the biggest and most successful artists of alltime.
So stop with this Shania bashing and get to original subject of the thread.

#10 — July 21, 2007 @ 13:23PM — Zane

Michael, I am from German and Shania won the international female pop aritst of the year in 2003. Shania is huge all over the world.
She is a megastar as big as there is.
I did some research and she had one album alone sell over 38 million worldwide.
Yes, Shania is pop and country and she is a true goddess in music and one of the biggest of alltime.
Her friend is Celine Dion and they talk to eachother all the time, 2 canadians who made it to the biggest stage in the world, awsome.

#11 — July 21, 2007 @ 13:24PM — Zane

Sorry I meant to say Shania won that international pop artist of the year at the comet awards in germany.

#12 — July 21, 2007 @ 22:02PM — Michael

It is ridiculous to compare Shania Twain with the TOP league of super stars. Shania is just a super star in number of sales, but she is not a super star if we check her voice or her music or her creativity. She is just an average singer IMO, but a marketing superstar with a nice look and personality, and she is working hard. But I don't look at the number of sales. First of all I listen to the music.

No, Shania is not in the top league of singers, but she reached the very best with an average talent. She is not a goddess. Celine Dion is a goddess. Prince is still top, very creative. Michael Jackson's high time is already over, but you still hear his music, or the music of Prince or Celine Dion. Or the Beatles. These are the real super stars. The music of Shania Twain? Classics? No.

This is just a reaction to those who want to tell that Carrie Underwood Carrie to look up to Shania Twain. No, she hasn't.

The question is: Will Carrie Underwood come to Europe? Is she interested in the USA and Canada only, or is she interested in the world, like Britney or Christina or Shania or Shakira?

However: Carrie Underwood is a brilliant singer. Of course she will not reach a Celine Dion, but so far she is better than Britney or Christina (who is half singing and half yelling) or Shania or Shakira. I would like to see Carrie Underwood in Europe.

#13 — July 21, 2007 @ 22:13PM — Michael

Post scriptum: Chris Evans wrote that Carrie's first album was "bland". No, I don't agree. It was more than a solid album, it was an excellent album, one of the the best albums I have ever heard, because of her voice.

Of course, it will be hard for her to reach the same level again. But I have no doubt that she can make it. I have faith in her second album.

And Europe: When did Shania or Shakira come to Europe? Carrie Underwood does not have to hurry. It's time enough.

#14 — July 22, 2007 @ 01:59AM — zane

Michael, thanks for the huge laugh. When you sell as many albums as Shania has and had success all over the world in huge levels then you are as big a superstar as it gets.
Sales and success are what make superstars and mega stars not whether you like their voice lmao!!!
I will give you 2 examples of class love songs already around the world of Shania's.
FROM THIS MOMENT ON and YOUR STILL THE ONE are 2 of the most popular love classics in history. I won't even mention Shania's sassy classics like MAN I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN or THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH.
You need a serious reality check, Shania headlined the largest event in the world at halftime(superbowl). She has had 4 of her own prime specials on network tv, she is the first woman in history with back to back diamond albums and she changed a whole genre of music with her sound.
YOu call Celine Dion creative? lol!!!! Shania at least writes all her songs and created her own style known worldwide.
I think you need a serious reality check. Because your opinion is only yours and is doesn't make sense at all.
Shania is regarded around the world as one of the biggest megastars in history, those are the facts, deal with it.
I could give you tons of more examples of Shania's mega success and impact worldwide.

I understand you like Underwood and hope the best for her in the future but you seriosly need to stop your Shania bashing because Shania is a music icon and proved it for a decade.

#15 — July 22, 2007 @ 10:44AM — Ann

Zane, Shania was at the top at one time, but she peaked years ago and doesn't sell that well anymore. She made her money and I'm glad for her, but why compare what she did in the 90's to what a new artist is doing right now? Does Shania have a cd on the charts right now and what did her last one sell? And how well would she have done if she had come along when illegal downloads existed?

#16 — July 22, 2007 @ 14:05PM — zane

Ann,get a reality check. Shania has been on hiatus rasing her family in Switzlerand for the last 2 years. YOu can cry about downloads all you want but the facts are that Shania is the biggest selling act in the last decade.Shania's last cd even at ag 40 and long past her sales peak still was one of the best sellers in the world.
YOu are sounding so absurd. Everyone has their sales peak but the fact that Shania even at age 40,long past her sales peak and she still sells at the top of the game with the best in the world proves what an icon she really is.
Big stars like Shania have nothing to prove. Shania will have a new cd out in 2008 and a new world tour that will again be a huge success worldwide.
So do your research before you come here and spread misinformation. The facts are that you are making excuses as to why others can't compare to her.
Shania is worth 500 million on her name alone and her husband worth a billion and Shania whenever she puts out music is still at the top of the game even at her age.He last cd was a GH cd in 2004 that sold millions and millions all over the world and was billboards top country cd of 2004.
And her tour in 2004 grossed 120 million worldwide.
So you see I think it is ignorant of you to make comments that you don't even have the facts to back up.
Shania long ago eclisped Nashville and is a global music icon. she does what she wants when she wants to.

Now, stop this garbage about bashing Shania because of her unmatched success and mega status in country music.
And get your facts correct about her before you post about her.
This thread was about newcomer underwoods new album not about bashing shania and saying she is a loser because she has been looking after her family in privacy for 2 years/
Shania has her priorities right and is a classy woman and commands attention anytime she puts out music because it is always a huge success.
Now Anne, go and check your facts before you come back here.

#17 — July 22, 2007 @ 14:18PM — Marry

Ann, did you just say Shania doesn't sell well anymore? lmao!!!
Well I guess you don't check your facts or just say stuff hoping nobody checks.
Shania even at age 41,past her sales peak is still one of the top sellers in the world.
Her last studio album was a huge success by anyones standard and won country album of the year for billboard and was a huge hit world with tens of millions buying it. Her last album in 2004 was a Gh cd and won billboad country album of the year and sold millions worlwide.
So it is safe to say Shania is a megaseller even at this age and past her peak.
Also it is worth mentioning that Shania's last tour in 2004 grossed 120 million worldwide and was a massive success.
So Ann, those are the facts. Amazing that a woman at age 41 can still be among the best in the worldd, thats what I call an icon. Lets see what these newcomers do in 17 years lol!!!

#18 — July 22, 2007 @ 19:10PM — Michael

Shania fanatics, if you need Shania Twain as your icon and kind of God: No problem. It's up the pole in my opinion, but it is your life, you can do whatever you want, including spamming in a Carrie Underwood thread. Better believing in Shania Twain than believing in Ron Hubbard.

#19 — July 22, 2007 @ 22:17PM — sue

Okay, lets get back on topic here. I am a fan of a legend like Shania Twain and also newcomers Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift.
I grew to respect Shania for the way she lived her life in privacy and not causing contraversy despite being one of the biggest stars in the world. I heard Shania is coming out of hiatus in 2008 with a new album and world tour. And as always Shania's albums and tours are huge succeses so I look forward to it.Shania no doubt has many die hard fans worldwide who worship her rightfully so.Shania is a true icon of music who carved her own style in the world and whose songs are classics worlwide.Lets move on now and stop the Shania bashing and talk about Carrie's new album.

Now back to the sound on Carrie Underwoods new album. I hope it is more traditional because that is where she sounds best. Like a gospel type sound.
I don't think sassy songs are her style. She just doesn't pull it off or maybe she doesn't command the stage like a seasoned proffessional
She does best with heartfelt country songs. I look foward to her next album and think it will do great.

#20 — July 23, 2007 @ 07:41AM — Matt

She needs to strive NOT to be like Shania. Shania is pop with a little country mixed in. Carrie is more country then pop. If her new album is more country then pop she'll carry on the sucess, if she tries to be more like Shania, she'll be a failure. Carrie is a more traditional, Girl-Next-door kind of sexy, that's is what has helped her get as big as she is right now and is what will help her get even bigger.

#21 — July 23, 2007 @ 08:10AM — Michael

I did not notice any Shania bashing, but I noticed a lot of praising Shania Twain and her millions up to the skies, which is abnormal.

Read the title: This is a forum about Carrie Underwood, not about Shania Twain or Mickey Mouse. Writing novels here about Shania Twain is nothing but spamming.

#22 — July 23, 2007 @ 10:36AM — bliffle [URL]

I've heard each of these singers at least once and I can't imagine listening to them again. Why would anyone? They're all bland, boring, derivative. Mass produced factory music. At least Shania is fun to look at.

#23 — July 23, 2007 @ 19:03PM — CNN (ap)

It has been released by local radio stations and contributors carrie Underwood's new single will debut Monday, July 30, 2007.
it is titled "Can you spare an angel" there are also rumors that have not been confirmed nor denied that she will be doing a duet with Kelly Clarkson on her upcoming sophomore album, which is to dat untitled.

#24 — July 23, 2007 @ 19:30PM — Denise

First off it's Mark Bright not Mark Knight and secondly he produced 7 songs on Some Hearts he didn't pen any of them. This blogger is sadly very miss informed and it's funny how so many people didn't even notice it yet they seem to have an opinion on Carrie and how she will do. Seems there is alot of people on here with opinions based on nothing.

#25 — July 23, 2007 @ 21:39PM — Jeff

Silly comparisions! Shania had her day and is rich and happy, but the key word is HAD.

#26 — July 23, 2007 @ 21:47PM — Ann

Zane,I know my facts. Do you? I suppose you work at the bank Mutt and Shania keep his Billion and her 500 mil? Shania was very sucessful no one is even denying her success, but you act like she is at her peak right now when it was years and years ago. Go compare Shania's numbers to someone who's been around two decades if you want to compare. Try Garth Brooks.

#27 — July 24, 2007 @ 02:21AM — Michael

bliffle, Denise, Zane, especially Zane: You'd better stop spamming in this Carrie Underwood thread.

Jeff and Ann: Better don't discuss with fanatics.

#28 — July 24, 2007 @ 16:25PM — zane

Ann, thanks for the laugh. No I don't work at the bank but Shania's net worth according to swiss finacial business magazine is estimated at 500 million on her name alone and Mutt is worth 1.2 billion.
Those are the facts. and nobody said Shania or Madonna or Garth was at their peak. Shania is past her sales peak and yet still sells with the best in the world if you actually check the facts.
So it is even more amazing that Shania in her late 30's and early 40's still sells so much.
So maybe you need to read more carefully and do more research. If it bothers you that Shania is so rich, successful and an icon then fine but don't cry when Shania comes out next year with a new album and new world tour and it is a huge success worldwide as always.

#29 — July 24, 2007 @ 16:30PM — zane

Jeff, I wouldn't quite say that lmao!!!
Shania is on hiatus now but is having a new world tour and new album in 2008 which will be a huge success like all her albums and tours.
Quite astonishing actually that Shania at 39 or 41 can still sell with the best in the world when she puts out new music./
So jeff you better cover your ears and hide from all the media outlets in 2008 because Shania will be back with a new album and new world tour.
Now get back on topic because you people bashing Shania are truly clueless about what Shania is all about.

#30 — July 24, 2007 @ 16:38PM — Bob

Ann, actually you don't know the facts. I agree with Zane and some others here.
You need to actually check your facts before posting. I am not a big Shania fan because I don't like her style but Shania whenever she puts out music is always a huge success. Shania is not at her sales peak no doubt but the fact that she still sells so great at this age makes it even that more impressive. My sister dragged me out to one of her UP tour in 2004 and was was pleasantly surprised at how great an entertainer she is. I believe that Up concert grossed 110 million worldwide and was a huge success. Big veteran superstars like Shania or a Madonna will always be around as long as they want and their tours will always be the most popular. And Shania still sells great which is very unusual for a superstar of her age. Madonna doesn't sell cd's that good anymore but Shania sells cd's great still and tours great.
So I think this thread has gotten way off topic here.
Ann, you did to give it a rest because you don't know the facts when you post.
You just post non sense and then Shania fans come back to defend Shania and the cycle never ends.
Lets stop this now and move on.

#31 — July 24, 2007 @ 20:00PM — Ann

Well, zane you finally did admit Shania was past her peak!

#32 — July 24, 2007 @ 22:57PM — zane

Ann, are you going to stop this garbage the others are saying to or keep this fight going.
I said Shania past her peak is still among the top sellers in the world.
So what is your point? Shania's peak was so much higher than everyone elses that Shania past her sales peak can still be among the best sellers in the world at age 40. So Shania going multi platinum in over 100 countries at age 39 like she did with UP are her GH cd is astonishing.
Are you that jealous of Shania and her success and continued success with all her albums that you have to start a fight on new comer Carrie Underwoods thread.

Now move on and get past your jealousy of Shania and listen to who you like.

#33 — July 25, 2007 @ 02:02AM — Michael

zane, you need a psychiatrist. Are you always terrorizing others with your manias?

#34 — July 25, 2007 @ 09:30AM — Lou

David Hasslehoff is also huge in Europe but can he really sing? Duh! shania is a huge talent, yes. But her voice is not stellar. Money aside, talent vs. talent I would rather listen to Carrie than Shania any day of the week and twice on Saturday...

#35 — July 25, 2007 @ 11:14AM — zane

lou, why do you come here and start this all over again. Drop this crap and bashing of Shania.
What the hell does David Hasselhoff have to do with this? So who cares if he is huge in Europe, Shania is huge all over the world and has talent and is one of the biggest stars in the world history.
I could careless who you would rather listen to since it is all opinion anyway.Shania has proven since the age of 8 and singing in run down bars with her guitar that she can sing and write songs.
So according to the tens of millions worldwide who love Shania she wins in talent, charims and looks which is a lethal combination and made her one of the richest and biggest music acts of alltime.

Now, please I warn you to stop going on about this.
Get this thread back on topic and don't bring up Shania's name again..
Just move on unless you want many Shania fans to come here and defend her over the stupid bashing and lies that go on here.
Now, talk about Carrie Underwoods new album and drop this nonsense.

#36 — July 25, 2007 @ 16:07PM — bliffle

Bah. In the Great Bye And Bye none of those temporary pop sellers will be remembered, but this one will:

sparrow

#37 — July 26, 2007 @ 11:34AM — Michael

zane, stop you idotic Holy Shania war.

#38 — July 26, 2007 @ 15:28PM — Lou

Zane,

I like people like you because you can yank the chain and sit back and watch you talk, talk, talk. Funny actually. I never knew anyone could use the name Shania as many times as you did in one paragraph! SO defensive!

#39 — July 26, 2007 @ 19:04PM — Ron

As a member of both Carrie and Shania's fan clubs; and having met both of them, I'll just say that they are both great artists. Shania IS one of, if not THE, most successful female artists EVER. Michael and Ann, maybe you don't like her music, but MILLIONS of others do. And it has NOT been "years and years" since her last hit, or tour. It was 3 years ago. And who's to say she's past her peak??? She could just be in a valley now and will come back even stronger when her next album comes out. And Michael, Shania HAS toured Europe! Now: Carrie is great, too; but has yet to have the success of Shania, though I suspect she will. (But, for all anyone knows, her sophomore album MAY not do as well as Some Hearts...we'll have to wait and see.) But there's no need to bash one artist to try to build up another. It's like having kids...you can love more than one...they each have their own qualities.

#40 — July 26, 2007 @ 22:33PM — Michael

I recommend to read what I wrote. I like Shania Twain. I prefer (!) Carrie Underwood. Which does neither mean that I dislike Shania Twain nor - zane - that I have to "bash" Shania Twain. What I do NOT like, are fanatics and maniacs like zane.

I, the so called Shania Twain "basher", have CDs and a DVD of Shania Twain. Bought by myself. I watched her concert in the TV and became a Shania fan years ago. And I can tell you: Carrie Underwood is better.

Many people think like me and hear what I can hear: 12,400 videos at Youtube are related to Shania Twain, while 16,400 videos at Youtube are related to Carrie Underwood. And Carrie's second album is not yet out. But no doubt: It will be a real blast. Because she is a real artist. We can expect a lot, and we will get it.

By the way: You should watch Carrie's Skid Row cover "I Remember You" at Youtube. Or her SCOM ("Sweat Child O' Mine"). Did you know that Carrie Underwood is a rocker?

#41 — July 27, 2007 @ 22:13PM — zane

Michael, you are a complete joke. Who cares about Youtube. Shania hasn't been in the limelight in 3 years, she is on hiatus now lmao!!!
Thanks for the laugh though!!
When Shania comes out with a new album and new world tour in 2008 then you will see what real talent and worldwide megastar is all about.
I think your continuous garbage about Shania just makes you look foolish but you want to continue this fight and keep bashing Shania.
Get over it, Shania is better in all categories and a worldwide icon who has set records in over 100 countries.
Underwood is still an opening act and will never even come close to Shania's status of success.
Shania success and massive worldwide success for over a decade makes Shania one of the greatest of alltime.
So you can continue ot bash Shania and I will respond or you can just move on to a different subject.
Shania is the best in talent, looks, charisma and the way she changed the face of a whole genre and took it globally.
I didnt' want to come back to respond again but michael keeps this up with his bashing.

I agree with some of the Shania fans. Shania not only is great and has achieved things others can only dream of but Shania is a real artist who since the age of 8 wrote her own songs, plays her own instruments and created her own sound. shania is a true artist who controls everything and calls all the shots and is so successful, rich and classy and talented and gorgeous.Nobody compares to shania in my opinion and the 80 million who bought her albums. She is a true original.

Okay, I am a Carrie fan and not a Shania fan but lets stop all of this arguing. Carrie Underwood is my favorite artist but even I can't deny Shania is one of the greatest artists of alltime.
If Carrie is around in 14 years then we can compare until then lets grow up and enjoy this new country singer named CArrie Underwood. And those who are Shania fans can enjoy a true icon like Shania since she has great music to make in the future. My wife is a Shania fan and even I can't deny the woman has her own style and she changed country music forever.
So lets enjoy all artists, young stars and the veteran superstars.
And Zane, just don't respond anymore to Michael and vise versa since you can't get along and are just fighting.
Someone needs to be the grownup here.

I love Carrie Underwood! I own two of her Some Hearts albums. She should stick to her thing. People say she should be more like this or more like that but i think if she sticks to her roots she'll do just find. The reason artist tend to loose interest is because they seem to much like another artist. Now a days you have to be as original as possible and Carrie cut it slick with her debut album being Some Hearts which is a re due of an original but she stuck to it and did a good job. Now her version of The Pretenders "I'll stand by You" is played on the radio and i think it'll stick to. I think Carrie will go on to do great with her sophomore album and whatever she takes on because she has numerous fans and they'll support her.

Okay, let's stop comparing singer to singer. Every singer is different and they all have their own style. I have been to a Carrie concert and she is just amazing. I am a huge fan of Carrie's and have followed her from her first day on AI. I knew she would win and come out with a great album. She is refreshing and down to earth. Let her shine and feel her way through the business. She's only been here for a little over 2 years. I know her next album is going to be just as great, maybe even better. I love her new single "So Small" and can't wait for the video. Let her have her fame while it last's, hope it's for a long time. I hope she win's many more awards!

I like Carrie Underwood-she has a great voice. But Shania, well, she is just awesome! Her style, her voice and her lyrics, and she writes her own music! I loved "I Ain't No Quitter" and I don't think country radio played it that much. Anyway, I just buy all of her albums and really don't listen to country radio--I just like Shania the best! But I do wish Carrie the best and I love her song, Jesus, Take the Wheel. That is really a huge hit for her and very powerful words, and her voice is lovely.
