Really Really Good: Sick Sounds of the Earth
Published July 10, 2007
Hola, mi comrades! Welcome to another star-studded edition of the world famous Really Really Good Show! All the excitement of Magic Mountain and the latest Hollywood blockbuster, without the long lines and disappointing endings. Nothing but the best in online maneuvers, super-sized digi-packs of funk, and otherwise delectable nuggets of useless info.
LiveEarth — Parental Advisory, Excessive Energy Use
Talk about a turnaround. How does the guy whose wife is responsible for parental advisory stickers being placed on any and all CDs with curse words, go on to host one of the largest music concerts in history? Must be a Tennessee thing. Al Gore's dream concert, LiveEarth recently wrapped up, bringing his cause of a greener earth to, well, the earth! There are a few detractors to the event, as many ask how can such a huge show possibly be held, without using tons of energy? I guess the jury is still out on that one. Personally, I think it was a worthy cause well overdue. Here are a few links on the concerts.
Fine Print Folitricks Found in Sound Exchange Filing
KCRW has been of of the leaders in the fight against Internet royalty rate hikes. Rulings by the Copyright Review Board have many online broadcasters preparing for the end, as new payment deadlines loom closer. Many of your favorite online radio stations will cease to exist if the new laws are not challenged. Sound Exchange, the company behind the new royalty laws, has offered a cap on the payment rates. Celia Hirschman, host of KCRW's "On The Velvet Rope," points out that the new deal is not as good as it seems. In fact, she asserts that there are hidden details that may prevent webcasters from seeking any further legal action. In addition to that, the offer of a cap is only good for 18 months, with no guarantees after that. Listen to the segment "Cloudy Issues Surround Internet Radio" at KCRW's website.
Zune Throws a BBQ!
Zune is stepping their game up and showing love for Hip-Hop. The portable music player company is hosting a three-city rap concert, dubbed "Live At The BBQ." Shows are set for New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, with performances by Common, Mos Def, Lil Jon, Clipse, Lupe Fiasco, Cham, David Banner, UGK, Collie Budz, E-40, Joel Ortiz and Large Professor, of course. Don't quote me but I think there may actually be food available as well. Check below for show dates and stay tuned for more info!

I kinda chuckled at your point about Tipper Gore and those blasted album stickers, now Al goes and does this.
I'm new to Squidoo and found your link there. Check me out sometimes over there. I'm creating a lens series on funk rock divas. Betty Davis and Joyce Kennedy of Mother's Finest are published thus far.
