Landmarc is a blown-up version of Marc Murphy's Tribeca neighborhood bistro that is beloved for its simple, pick-and-choose menu and innovative wine concept. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served at the sprawling Time Warner outpost and the restaurant is open from 7am to 2am.

Landmarc scores the award for the most crowd-pleasing menu on the Time Warner roster and fans of the Tribeca restaurant will flock to this location for mussels served five ways, steak frites with an array of sauces (chimichurri, béarnaise, shallot bordelaise), and fresh, briny oysters with lemon and mignonette.

On a quieter note, George switches gears and hops downtown to visit a gorgeous new shop that brings a bit of grace and Japanese hospitality to a busy Soho block. Kiteya specializes in handmade wares by Kyoto artisans and spectacular wrapping that includes fresh flowers and Japanese textiles. The shop was opened last month by mother-daughter team Kelko Ida and Yumi Ida and sells elegant Japanese crafts and fashion in a calming, Zen environment.

On a recent brunch to the new Landmarc restaurant in the Time-Warner building I was astounded to learn that a simple slice of bread was considered a side order ( no bread arrived with a very plain breakfast order of eggs) as was jam,( and a costly side order at that). In addition, our waiter with an attitude seemed to think it was his job to teach me how to correctly ask for more milk for my coffee. Instead of remembering a pleasant breakfast with my out-of-town guests, I only remember the rude waiter and the inappropriate charges for an unremarkable meal.
