I thought that might be him - it'd be quite a coincidence if it was a different singer with the same name.

Barry Tashian has been a hard-working country musician (with his wife Holly) for decades now - and was a member of Emmylou Harris' Hot Band for ten years. (He can also be heard on Gram Parsons' classic GP.) Per their web page, the duo have released six acoustic country discs, none of which I've heard - though I'm definitely curious.

I've got a New Rose/Fan Club 2 vinyl set of the Remains - they were everything you said, and more. There's a live in the studio demo session, and you should hear the thrashing they lay onto "Hang On Sloopy" and other 60's nuggets (no pun intended).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Barry Tashain's name occasionally shows up in backing vocal credits in Nashville porduced country albums.
