Game du Jour Deals: May 21 through May 27

Game du Jour is a "One Deal a Day" website for casual PC games. Every day of the week, GameDuJour.com sells one downloadable game at a steep discount.

Every week Blogcritics Magazine will bring you a look of those games, so you know what to expect when the featured game gets its 24 hours in the spotlight.

We aim to publish reviews at least one day before the game goes on sale at GameDuJour.com, so please check back regularly. But we will admit, as much as we love casual games here at Blogcritics, we won't be able to get to every title.

ChessGenius

Richard Lang's ChessGenius programs have a long history of being the strongest in the world. They have won Computer Chess World Championships 10 times.

Perhaps ChessGenius's greatest achievement came in August 1994 when it shocked the Chess World and became the first program ever to beat a World Champion (Gary Kasparov) at a non-blitz time level. ChessGenius also knocked GM Nikolic out of the same tournament, achieving an astounding 2795 ELO rating - all on a mere 100 Mhz Pentium PC!

Brickette

Push, match, and remove sets of blocks. Your goal is to remove all blocks while never leaving single blocks behind. Featuring multiple modes (including hectic fights against the clock in arcade mode and relaxing play in thinker mode) Brickette offers hours of fun for both beginners and advanced players alike.

The Strategist
Writer: Brian Szabelski

The Strategist is a slight twist on a style of game play we've seen before. Those familiar with Risk or the popular online game Dice Wars will be able to quickly understand the basic concept to the game: conquer surrounding regions to increase the number of troops you receive each turn, build a force, and defeat the opposing armies. The unique twist in this case comes from the fact that each force has a strategist, and by defeating the strategist at any point, victory is achieved.

Oxeye Games' latest effort is for Macs only, meaning that PC owners can't get in on the fun. But for those of you who do own a Mac, The Strategist is a pretty worthwhile game to take a look at. The little in-game animations you see as your troops move across the battlefield or the miniature explosions that pop up as you battle enemy armies aren't graphically mind-blowing, but they're neat little touches that help add a bit of flavor to the game. It's easy to lose yourself in the strategy and fun this game provides, but in the end, The Strategist is different enough from Risk and Dice Wars to be good.

Crazzy Eggs

Crazy Eggs is a puzzle game that tests your reflex speed and hand-eye coordination. The goal in your game is to link up dinosaur eggs of the same pattern, and clear all eggs on board within a time limit.
