Interview with author Patty Marx
Published May 17, 2007
SuChin's Take:
She's the one interviewee that I still keep in touch with. Patty, to me, is the quintessential New Yorker that I imagined this island would be full of when I first moved here. The first line in her bio reads, "Patricia Marx writes comedy because she is too shallow to do anything else." Smart, sarcastic, self deprecating, stylish, quirky... she's the closest thing I've come to my own Carrie Bradshaw. I learned after the interview and in an exchange of emails (because we really bonded over shopping) that she travels all over the country, discovering interesting stores, designers and quirky places to shop for her various writing gigs at magazines. So, well, you can imagine what our conversations are about now. And I'm well on my way to being broke, thanks to Patty.
