Game du Jour Deals: May 14 through May 20

Game du Jour is a "One Deal a Day" website for casual PC games. Every day of the week, GameDuJour.com sells one downloadable game at a steep discount.

Every week Blogcritics Magazine will bring you a look of those games, so you know what to expect when the featured game gets its 24 hours in the spotlight.

We aim to publish reviews at least one day before the game goes on sale at GameDuJour.com, so please check back regularly. But we will admit, as much as we love casual games here at Blogcritics, we won't be able to get to every title.

Astral Masters
Writer: Brian Szabelski

Astral Masters is at its core a fantasy card-playing game that isn't too bad. A sequel to Apus Software's earlier game Astral Tournament, the game features a style of play very similar to Magic: The Gathering or other collectible card games (CCGs).

Playing the game itself is pretty simple. Most of the interface only deals with point-and-click play, and the game offers help when playing just a single game. There is also a league mode for players once they think they've got the controls under their grasp. Players of CCGs should have no problems at all adapting to this game, and even novices should be able to play Astral Masters successfully after a while.

Astral Masters itself is fun, but doesn't really stand out too much from other games trying to emulate Magic: The Gathering. The ability to play against other Astral Masters players online is a nice touch, and adding in a rating that can change the power of your attacks or spells is also an added bonus.

Grizzly Adventure
Writer: Brian Szabelski

Grizzly Adventures is a little platforming game about a bear name Grizzly. Comprising of 30 levels that require you to find the key somewhere in the level so you can unlock the exit and move on, Grizzly Adventures is pretty standard fare amongst platforming games.

The basic story is that an evil sorcerer has taken control of Grizzly's forest and driven the creatures completely insane in order to bring down the woods, but Grizzly is determined to stop him. As storylines go, it's nothing too special.
