Rosie O'Donnell's Fascinating Oral Diarrhea

Written by Daryl D
Published April 25, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell is one of the most disturbing, yet fascinating personas that ever existed. She pisses people off who deserve to be pissed off: Rupert Murdoch, Bill O’Reilly, George W. Bush, so-called “President of the Catholic League” William Donahue (a man who would be pissed off at almost anything), Donald Trump, Michelle Malkin, and many others.

This is not to say Rosie is completely innocent. She has what my family refers to as “oral diarrhea,” a disease my mother has embarrassed us with for years. People who have oral diarrhea, unlike normal thinking people, can’t stop themselves from saying whatever they are thinking.

There’s a part of the brain that filters thoughts out. This brain function doesn’t work with people like Rosie O’Donnell or my mother. It could get her in big trouble. This certainly hurt Imus, Michael Richards, and possibly Mel Gibson. Alcoholism played a more important role in Gibson’s rants, but oral diarrhea and alcoholism sometimes go hand in hand.

It is also obvious that Rosie O’Donnell, like millions of other Americans, suffers from depression. She is unable to sit still without opening her mouth and she is very irritable. Her moods jump from high to low in almost a minute.

What’s fascinating about Rosie’s depression is that instead of self-loathing, which many people with depression experience, she loves herself a little too much. She especially loves to hear herself shout and tear down others who disagree with her. This was evident by her treatment of Tom Selleck, a member of the National Rifle Association, back in 1999.

Despite her odd behavior, Rosie O’Donnell is both entertaining and educating to watch. From loudly criticizing Elizabeth Hasselbeck for her age (she’s too young) to her 9/11 conspiracies, Rosie brings out the best and worst in all of us. She says what many of us are thinking, but are afraid to say.

At times, she unfairly represents liberals — such as her recent mocking of Chinese people as well as ridiculously accusing Kelly Ripa of being a homophobe — but she does what very few talk show hosts do: she makes you think! Even if you disagree with her, discussing Rosie can bring up some very long and interesting discussions.

this is a great article on an always controversial public figure, rosie o'donnell. it does what every article has failed miserably at: showing each side of her. every other article either bashers her or loves her: there is no median.
with rosie there is a lot that any one person can take from any of her vocal statements or written words and this article pinpointed that complexity.

What is even more alarming than Rosie's mouthiness is your comment that:

It is also obvious that Rosie O'Donnell, like millions of other Americans, suffers from depression. She is unable to sit still without opening her mouth and she is very irritable. Her moods jump from high to low in almost a minute.

Do we really need unqualified lay people making throwing around labels of mental illness?

Let's face facts, America. Like it or not, Rosie O'Donnell breathed new life into Barbara Walters' gabfest. She single-handedly took a sagging morning show and transformed it into great competition and fuel for the cable news channels. She came out of her self imposed exile after years as the "Queen of Nice" and with her bawdy give 'em hell approach caused Americans to wake up and smell the coffee. I didn't agree with everything she stood for but I'll give her credit. She made me rethink many issues and it's obvious that this Long Island lesbian was a force to be reckoned with. I was a big fan of The View in its early days. With the exit of Meredith Viera, I had no reason to even consider watching any longer. To me Viera was the lynch pin of the show.

Her limited role at ABC in the new season will give her more time to get out into the Heartland and deliver her message. Rosie O'Donnell is the epitome of what conservatism stood for until the Fundamentalist Christian Wrong bought and paid for the Republican Party. As far as I'm concerned Rosie is closer to Lincoln than anyone controlling the GOP these days and now that the dragon lady is loosed upon America after June, the far right better get ready. Hell hath no fury like a conservative lesbian.

I suspect the 9-11 comments were actually over the line. No more platforms for Rosie to yell from.

#5 — April 25, 2007 @ 11:45AM — Pope Silas I [URL]

In a free society when one perceives something as over the line we simply choose to turn the channel or rebut in a civil discourse. There's no civility in America today thanks to the divide imposed upon us by extremists on both sides. Rather than divide Iraq into three separate countries, perhaps we should consider dividing America in half. Let the far right and the Fundamentalist Christians have the deep South (i.e. Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma). Give ultra liberals the West Coast (California, Washington and Oregon) and give the moderate majority the rest of the continent with the District of Columbia returning to the status as the bastion of democracy.

Rosie O'Donnell is an ignorant, hateful bitch from Bayside, Queens. She detratcs form the sum total of human knowledge every time she opens her mouth. I don't need to hear any more incoherent rants. She is a bitter, hateful, clueless tub of lard. Go away Rosie, and don't come back!

#7 — April 25, 2007 @ 14:14PM — Kaonashi [URL]

television without Rosie O'Donnell would be very empty and depressing.

Funny you should say that...because today Yahoo reports that she's leaving The View.

#8 — April 25, 2007 @ 16:27PM — Jeff

"Even if you don't agree with gay culture"? LOL. What the heck does that even mean? That's like saying there's something to agree or disagree with en masse in "white" or "heterosexual" culture. Just as there are many heterosexual "cultures," there are a lot of different kinds of gay "culture" -- many of which are so Republican, white bread, boring and family/church-centered that you'd barely be able to tell them apart from their straight counterparts were it not for the religious right's obsession(s) with other people's genitalia.

#9 — April 25, 2007 @ 17:12PM — Pope Silas I [URL]

Indeed. The Far Right is completely obsessed with male genitalia and, as many women have revealed, males on the Far Right seem to have an aversion to female genitalia. But that's for another debate. I'm in deep mourning and hope that ABC will replace Rosie with someone equally controversial. Hmmm, let's see?

Whoopi Goldberg! Now that would make an interesting show!

#10 — April 25, 2007 @ 19:03PM — rainmaker

I think Barbara and Rosie have the "Oral Diarrhea" thing in common. The only difference is that Barbara seems to keep her "towel handy" for cleaning her messes up.

SOOOO NOT IMPRESSED! GROW THE HELL UP!

#11 — April 25, 2007 @ 19:17PM — J.J. Hunsecker

"She is unable to sit still without opening her mouth"

Yeah, because people on TV should sit quietly. That explains why you lost your job in radio.

"At times, she unfairly represents liberals"

No, she just represent herself. It's only the dimwitted that project her actions onto others.

Has your mother ever read your articles? I'd be interested in the diagnosis.

HOw about Don Imus?

It's not that Rosie's contreversial...it's that she's such a fucking idiot!

Let's examine just one of her prouder moments from a recent episode of the view

A few months back she said radical christianity is just as dangerous as radical islam in today's world.

HMMMM
what have radical muslims done in the past 5 years or so?

911
-spain train bombing
-bali nightclub bombing
-london subway bombing
-caused riots in france
-threatened to cut off the heads of the media over a cartoon
-murdered a dutch filmmaker named theo van gogh because he made a film that was unflattering to islam....
-cut off the heads of several foreign civllian reporters and citizens in the middle east and videotaped it

what have radical christians done?

-bill donahue said mean things to a liberal blogger working for the john edwards campaign....

oh my those awful christians

give me a fucking break......anyone who equates radical islam with radical christianity in today's world is a complete and utter moron lacking even the slightest capacity for objectivity

I'm glad this fat, ignorant, lying, pig is off the air.

It only took them 2 weeks to get Imus off the air. But it's been months since Rosie made her ching chong ching chong impression. And they say there's no liberal bias or double standard in the media.

Riiiiiiigggghhhhhtttt.

#13 — April 25, 2007 @ 21:59PM — daryl d.

Never been kicked out of radio. I assisted the music director and then, went back to school. Anyhow, I originally thought that Rosie had been kicked off the view today because of all the "controversy" but now I find out it's because she wanted more money. I'm not happy at all, but glad that they didn't pull an "IMUS" on her.

#14 — April 25, 2007 @ 22:09PM — Arch Conservative

So you don't think Imus deserved to be fired Daryl?

#15 — April 25, 2007 @ 22:12PM — daryl d.

I think IMUS's firing is not only pathetic, it's scary.

#16 — April 25, 2007 @ 22:52PM — J.J. Hunsecker

"I assisted the music director and then, went back to school."

You mean you had an internship.

#17 — April 25, 2007 @ 22:54PM — Eleanor Rooseveldt, S.P

And when did being gay stop anyone from from achieving success while raising a family? Seriously, she proves nothing other than more people than enough have bad taste. She's boorish, ugly, ill-informed, and generally unfunny. I am pleased she's gone, but...

#18 — April 26, 2007 @ 02:26AM — Michelle

Rosie was a refreshing addition to the View. I didn't always agree with her, but I think her comments were often overblown by...well...everyone. Why is what Rosie says so important to people? Most of the time I really don't think Rosie is thinking about how her comments will be recieved, and that makes her very real.

Radio/TV personalities get fired for saying stupid things because we live in a Capitalist society, not because of McCarthyism. When enough consumers say "We're going to boycott all your sponsors" and the sponsors start pulling out, they get the can like Imus. Thats $$$ at work, not censorship.

#19 — April 26, 2007 @ 03:04AM — STM

She's madder than a cut snake ... and everything she says should be treated with a grain of salt.

The problem with people like Rosie is that they're in priveleged positions (on TV, in the media) and because of that, some people actually believe what they say.

#20 — April 26, 2007 @ 11:31AM — Pope Silas I [URL]

Whoa! Is it me or have we forgotten that Christians in generations past were just as zealous in their drive to impose Christianity upon non-believers as certain Muslim sects are today. Study Middle Eastern history and culture? The West has imposed its own ideals on Arabia and has worked hard to eradicate the core Muslim philosophy. Stop for one second and place yourself in the shoes of a Muslim mother in Palestine. Imagine the heartache she faces on a daily basis. Don't forget that the current Middle Eastern configuration is something that the United States and Great Britain imposed upon those people. We refused to allow them any say and installed political leaders who were sympathetic to us and paid handsomely for their loyalty. Rosie was right on to compare radical Christians to radical Muslims. They are equally dangerous and equally responsible for the global political mess we are in. Christians, face it, Christ ain't coming back any time soon. He's probably so disgusted with His Church(es) that He's probably walking the shores of the River Jordan on some other planet where people actually strive to walk the walk.

#21 — April 26, 2007 @ 16:20PM — LatinosRule

Great article. I don't think Rosie supports the Latino community enough. She needs to speak up for us because we helped her career. She is fun to watch.

#22 — April 26, 2007 @ 17:49PM — Pope Silas I [URL]

With that visual, it's no wonder I am gay.

#23 — April 26, 2007 @ 18:40PM — Arch Conservative

Rosie was right on to compare radical Christians to radical Muslims.

Just a few questions for you pope..

How many bombings in spain, england, bali or any other nation have American christians been responsible for in the last ten years?

How many artists have been murdered by American christians because their work offended American christians?

How many riots in foreign nations have American Christians caused?

How many American Christians have emigrated to other nations and demanded the government treat them under their religious code?

How many Christian terrorists have kidnapped and cut off the heads of civilian foreigners on tape?

#24 — April 27, 2007 @ 02:25AM — widowmaker

I think Rosie could have had so much more to offer if she would just be decent. I heard her words at the women in news awards show, and think the potty mouth was uncalled for, especially given the audience. And even if you disagree with the person, it is not cool to insult one of the awards presenters. Save it for the right time and place.

I always thought of The View as a show where a group of women let their hair down a little and gave us a fresh perspective on current events, thought provoking. But they usually did it with class. Rosie gets on her soap box, and basically dares people to disagree with her.

Hope Rosie looks for a way to have a more positive and respectful impact on the world. Kind of like, dare I say it - someone like Oprah!

#25 — April 27, 2007 @ 03:37AM — STM

"Whoa! Is it me or have we forgotten that Christians in generations past were just as zealous in their drive to impose Christianity upon non-believers as certain Muslim sects are today. Study Middle Eastern history and culture"

The Crusades were a long time ago mate. It's 2007. What these bastards are doing is something different again.

#26 — April 27, 2007 @ 17:48PM — Fair

Please Christians have been known over the years to be zealous, look at the Phelps family.

Bottomline, she wasn't fired, she is getting her own show, she wanted to move more into the political arena like Colbert, Stewart and Mahrer.

Watch out Bill O'Reilly, you are in for a major shocker once it's announced.

#27 — April 28, 2007 @ 00:58AM — daryl d

I was really happy that this article got so much exposure. I've received emails from William Donahue (really nice guy who has a sense of humor about himself), and Donald Trump (no sense of humor about himself). I just hope that my mom doesn't get a hold of this somehow.

#28 — April 28, 2007 @ 18:51PM — Gail

Someoe needs to do a journalistic expose' on Donahue, most believe thereisallot there that the general public doesn't know.

#29 — May 30, 2007 @ 09:38AM — Susan G.

I would love to see Rosie and her wife fuck the shit out of each other!! :P~~~~~~~

#30 — May 30, 2007 @ 13:17PM — Billybob
