Devastro

If you like silly comic book violence and 1950s sci-fi movies, you'll enjoy Devastro. The story and premise is very simple: You're controlling a soldier (or small group of soldiers) sent to kill alien invaders by any means necessary. This includes shooting them, blowing them up, and running them over. If you see their flying saucer, destroy it with grenades you find along the way. Be careful of those mine fields though, or you go boom!

The game itself is like a 3-D comic book. The graphics look great, as if they were little figurines on a felt playing field. The characters have silly names like Lt. Kickass English, and when they talk a little speech bubble forms near their heads. The aliens look like your textbook creatures with green skin and large oval heads, straight from old sci-fi movies. When something explodes, a large, comic book-style "BOOM!" flashes on screen. It's hilarious.

I have few complaints about Devastro. The one thing that bugs me is that if you're controlling multiple units, they don't move at the same time when you give them an order. Some are delayed in reaching their destination, which is bad since they can be left behind and killed. Although there are some challenging levels (I'm actually stuck on a level right now), the objectives in each level are easy. I love the tongue-in-cheek humor in this game, as it pays homage to (or perhaps mocks?) those cheesy, 1950s sci-fi B movies. If you're interested in this game, check it out.
