Sanctuary Closes US Label and The Daily Music and Tech News

Sanctuary Records has announced that it will close its US record label. The label, which is the US home to the likes of Morrissey and Billy Idol, will be changing its focus to its back catalog and will be closing down its new release division in North America. The closing down is expected to happen by the end of this year. Sanctuary will continue ahead with the releases it already has scheduled.
Google has announced that it has released a beta version of its Google Desktop application for Macs. The application allows users to search through gmail and google from the desktop as well as search through files on the computer. The application is available for free from Google Mac's blog.
Chris Cornell has announced that he will headline a show in the UK. Cornell will play London's Astoria on May 16th. The singer is expected to play material from his upcoming album Carry On which is due out in the US on April 30th and will be released in the UK on May 21st. Tickets for the show go on sale today.
