Following closely on the success of Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, the Arctic Monkeys have announced the release of their new album Favourite Worst Nightmare, which will be available internationally on April 23. The first song, “Brianstorm,” will come out on April 16, ensuring a build-up for CD sales. The new effort will feature the recording debut of bassist Nick O’Malley, who replaced founding member Andy Nicholson last year.

In an interview with Billboard, producer James Ford gave a blasé quote as to the feel of the album, saying "It's quite a bit heavier in some places - there's also some really nice songs on there. Some of the songs maybe [have] more depth to them. [It's] maybe not quite as instant as the first one." However, while “maybe” more depth and “some really nice” songs may seem like setting the bar too low for a band that has won a Grammy, Americans should remember that Ford is British.

The new material is set to be unveiled live for the first time on April 27 set at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, and will continue the run on a 15-date tour to support the alblum.
