The Police to tour Europe

The Police have announced tour dates in continental Europe and the UK. The tour will kick off in Stockholm on August 29th and end on October 19th in Cardiff. The tickets will go on sale Friday March 9th at 9 AM. The band also announced that part of the tour’s proceeds will go to the charity WaterAid. Among the cities the band will hit are Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Birmingham, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Dusseldorf, Prague, Hamburg and Manchester.

Cisco buys social networking tech

Cisco Systems has announced that it will be buying social-networking technology. The company will be buying its technology from Utah Street Networks, which operates Tribe.net. This is the second time the company has bought something social-networking related since it formed Media Solutions Group. Earlier in the year Cisco also acquired Five Across, a social-networking start-up. The purchase is expected to allow companies to integrate social-networking into their own web sites. The Tribe.net will continue to operate independently.

Bjork readies new release

Bjork has announced that she is preparing to release a new album. The effort is titled Volta and is expected to hit stores on May 8th. Volta was written and produced by Bjork but features some beats co-produced by Timbaland and guest vocals from Antony Hegarty. Volta is a follow-up to 2004's Medulla.
