No Wonder Bill's Wealthy!

But Wait! That's Not All!
Those propeller heads over at the Pentagon feel that open source software is much more secure than the finest ad spyware MegaHard can produce. They should know: pirated copies of WhizDuh have already surfaced in China, Brazil, and Russia. (Note to Bill and Steve - that's why you hire ~*~ American ~*~ programmers to write your Cascade Mountain Crapware! But I digress.) In addition, Homeland "Security" is also researching the use of open source software for internal use instead of YawnDoze.
So if I were a government that truly cared about serving the public (instead of what we have now: government serving massive corporate monopolies seeking additional offshoring opportunities), I would make other options available for those of us who aren't like the pre-Mac MegaHard zombies of 1984 and actually use software that lets you be in charge of your own computer.
Or, is that not authoritarian enough for The Deciderer and his Kroo? It wasn't enough for China, so maybe not. So remember, it's patriotic to be a MegaHard zombie! It doesn't require any more thought than having Rush Limbaugh tell you he's right all the time!

Wow, kind of cruel to name your child 'Linguist', isn't it?
And BTW, Limbaugh is a diehard Mac user.
Dave
"Wow, kind of cruel to name your child 'Linguist', isn't it?"
Specially if his first name is Cunning.
Your going to need a stamp with that letter.
The richest guys in the world are those who have created monopolies and have gotten away with it.
Hard on the heels of Gates is Carlos Slim Helu here in Mexico. He was just a penny-ante rich guy--not even visible to Forbes--until he got his mitts on Telmex in 1991 when the state-ownded telephone company was privatized.
He has parlayed that monopoly into 54 billion dollars of weath--in 2006 alone he added 24 billion to his total!
Here in Mexico we have the highest phone charges in the world. All the pols kiss Slim's ass.
He tried to get a beachhead in Venezuela. Last year he offered to buy the majority actions in CANTV. Chavez decided rather than have another bloodsucker in Venezuela--after having gotten rid of Microsoft--he decided to re-nationalize the phone company.
The Venezuelan government paid a little less than slim had offered.
Slim cried sour grapes and said he didn't want it anymore....
Because Gates and Buffett have gotten some good press with their philanthropy, Slim has gotten into the act--with ONE BIG CATCH: The foundation he has created will donate in direct proportion to the amount of money his infrastructure group IDEAL rakes in.
That means he is taking in big scoops with one hand and giving back a few pesos with the other.
Nice work if you can get away with it....

Maybe start a petition. I'll gladly sign. To whom does one appeal?
