Toward a More Savage Nation

The Shill Media are offering up the usual pabulum about presidential contenders, disgorging reportage about the vapid and venal that's more soap opera than scoop. With mock surprise they speak of the presidential aspirations of Rudy, Lady Macbeth and Brokeback Obama, as they treat platitudes and political sloganeering as if they were less empty than the minds that regurgitate them. But amidst the din of this much-ado-about-nothing quest for copy, the media have missed - perhaps quite conveniently - the only truly scintillating story of the 2008 election. Radio talk show host Michael Savage is mulling a run for the White House.

I'm sure many would say I was wasting words on wishes, as Savage is the darkest of horses. But there's a very good reason to welcome his entry into the race, and I'll discuss this in a moment. First, though, let's take a peek into the life of the effervescent commentator.

Although Michael Savage has achieved fame through his exploits on radio and his four best-selling political books, this presidential dark horse is no one-trick pony, as he has lived a storied life and worn many hats. The son of an immigrant, he was raised in Queens, NY, in a home of most modest means. Savage attended public school and, applying himself to academics, vigorously pursued higher education, eventually earning a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Nutrition Sciences from UC Berkeley.

Dr. Savage went on to become an innovator in the field of nutrition, authoring seventeen books on the subject, became a director of nutrition for a major corporation and spent years as a botanical Indiana Jones, exploring the south pacific in a search for plants with medicinal qualities.

It was only later in life that Savage plunged into talk radio, an effort that gave birth to his show, The Savage Nation, which boasts more than eight million listeners weekly. And on that show one gets a glimpse of what Michael Savage would bring to the presidential race.

The Savage Nation is a land where political correctness finds no safe harbor. Savage unabashedly waxes patriotic, as he fights the culture war with a battle cry of "Borders, language and culture." He rightly sounds the alarm about radical Islam, the invasion by foreign aliens, the ACLU, feminism and the homosexual mafia, enduring the slings and arrows of those who would tarnish the tellers of truth. He rails against the moral decay represented by pop tarts, Howard Stern, gangsta rappers and the prevalence of pornography.

Well written wishful thinking.

Savage is a lover of literature also.

Savage is moderately amusing, but his beliefs are so extreme that I don't see him as a viable candidate. But I do think it's a good thing to get candidates into the primary who have unusual ideas if only to stimulate debate. That's why it's so nice to see Ron Paul making a run, even if it's kind of hopeless.

How could any red blooded American not love a man who writes a book titled "Liberalism is a Mental Disease"?

#4 — February 24, 2007 @ 13:30PM — foolkiller

Anyone who would say "Liberalism is a Mental Disease"? or agree with the sentiment, is NOT any kind of American, but a closet fascist in red, white and blue diapers, pretending to be righteous and ignoring their hypocrisy.

Part of the problem, and offering NO solution.

I have to agree with "foolkiller" above. Actually, calling Savage "a fascist in red, white and blue diapers" is an insult to fascists! I was recommended to the Savage site by a fellow who is a proud conservative who always uses the tag line "buried my heart in the Bronx".

I found the site to be more about hustling merchandise than any solid thinking of any kind.

I can find all the t-shirt ads I want right here on BC.

'Dr.' Savage is about as sophisticated as a box of Lincoln logs.

#7 — February 24, 2007 @ 14:35PM — Aku

Donnie,

Off and on man,Savage goes between using a verbal sledge hammer, and a rapier of words, with not much inbetween, IMHO.

Great post!

Savage posted a link to this article on his official website, but at a different web address...

#9 — February 24, 2007 @ 20:17PM — The village idiot

So whats your solution foolkiller? Just another liberal. Dont confuse me with the facts, "right".
You sound like that sr idiot who chimes in with no brains and spell checks escapes him. Donnie, I find Lincoln Logs very sophisticated. My set has old Abe standing in the doorway. Arch, liberalism is a cult and like sheep headed for slaughter they follow their ignorant leader, a frecking jackass. Now how dumb is that going around with their noses in a donkeys asshole as if their sniffing a dog in heat.

#10 — February 25, 2007 @ 12:52PM — foolkiller

My solution? Remove the Fools who attempt to misguide us, tear down the false idols raised up before us and show that not only are their feet made of clay, but what spews from their mouths is pure bullshit with no value even as fertilizer.

Savage, as well as this article, falls firmly in that category, and clearly demonstrates much that is wrong with our nation, and our world.

If that truth is not self evident, you are part of the problem.

#11 — February 26, 2007 @ 17:05PM — The village idiot

foolkiller, your right. Please continue to follow your donkey and try not to get brown sludge up your nostrils. We need you to save the world.

#12 — February 26, 2007 @ 17:10PM — foolkiller [URL]

Sorry, sr..i'm all booked up

and no donkeys or elephants for me...i'm allergic

just for the amusement you have always brought to the table, a little link.

I'd love to see Michael Savage run for president. It's been a long time since we had a genuine lunatic on the ballot (and before you try it, Savage makes Howard Dean look like a quiet, meditative monk by comparison). Seeing a good old-fashioned wackjob like Savage in the running would be terrifically entertaining!
