The desire to protect the PSP is great, much more than any other handheld console before it. The reason for this is two fold; the body of the PSP feels fragile, and the beautiful screen is left completely unprotected.

I have seen and tried a myriad of cases for my PSP, but none did everything I want. Specifically I was looking for a case that would protect the screen, not too bulky (this is the PSP, so there isn't much you can do about the size of the case) and allow me to swap the UMD without having to fumble with the case itself.

The search is over, I have stopped looking. Pacific Design has created an amazing PSP case that has a nifty magnetic clasp on the back to allow you to open the UMD door and keep the PSP inside the case the entire time.

There is also a magnetic button that holds the case closed, like what you would find on a mobile phone belt clip.

The top of the case has some padding, and can even hold another UMD, so you can always have two games with you at all times.

Holding the PSP in place, in the case, are four pleather hooks that are bent to fit around the sides of the PSP. You can access the power and Wi-Fi switches, AC, headphone, and Mini-USB ports, and as stated, easily swap UMD.

The only thing that you will have to remove the PSP from the case to do is change the Memory Stick - not really something I do on a daily basis.

This case retailed for $30 when it was first introduced, but now can be had for $15 at the Pacific Design site, and impressive price for an impressive case.

Most importantly, though, it doesn't feel awkward to use. Your fingers grasp the PSP just like normal, only you hold the back of the case, instead of the back of the PSP.
