New Album Releases, 2-6-2007: Rickie Lee Jones, Fall Out Boy, Patty Griffin

There's a little for everyone in this week's new album releases.

The top pick for cool people this week is Rickie Lee Jones, with her new Sermon on Exposition Boulevard. It sounds like our sister has took a sharp left turn with this batch of Christian messages that she has described as being influenced by the Velvet Underground. It sounds exceptionally freaky. Note that for about an extra $1.50, the deluxe 2 disc version includes a 40 minute DVD on the making of the album, and an SACD mix of the album

Folks what dig smart chicks could also get up on some Patty Griffin. I wouldn't have thought that she was a big deal commercially, but Children Running Through is currently #4 at Amazon.

Little girls and Mark Foley get a new Fall Out Boy album, Infinity on High.

Finally, masochists and fans of truth in advertising might take an interest in the Yoko Ono album called Yes, I'm a Witch. This appears to involve not just re-mixing but re-arranging vintage Yoko. Among those attempting to make silk purses here are such luminaries as Hank Shocklee and the Flaming Lips.

Unreformed hawkish Hoosier hillbilly and sometimes candidate Al Barger runs the still squeezin' down the psychodelic Kentucky moonshine at MoreThings.com, what with the paranoid religious visions and the Pentacostal music and visions of God and anarchy running amok and such. Somebody oughta call the cops to report his out of control freedom of conscience. Till they come to take him away somewhere where he can't hurt anyone else, you can check out his weekly column of NEW ALBUM RELEASES.
