Boom Boom Rocket Announced for Live Arcade
Published January 22, 2007
Electronic Arts is looking to make a bang on the Xbox 360's Live Arcade and with a recent partnership with Bizarre Creations, it will fire off its first arcade title, Boom Boom Rocket.
Developed by Bizarre, who have already unleashed Project Gotham Racing 3 and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on the system, the rhythm-based Boom Boom Rocket will be exploding online this spring. The game will mark EA's first-ever downloadable offer to a home gaming console.
The game will offer three-dimensional cityscapes in which players will trigger rockets to the beat of music produced by Ian Livingstone. Livingstone is offering 10 original tracks to which each stage's rockets are choreographed to in single-player and head-to-head modes.
Normal, speed and multiplayer modes await players, plus songs each have three different skill levels to ensure anyone can jump right into the game. Players who can keep in time with the beat will be able to chain an impressive array of fireworks.
Excellent play is rewarded with psychedelic bonus modes for extra points and those who master a track can unlock new firework designs. Those with a competitive spirit can log online and check the game's leaderboards and see how their score ranks worldwide.
"Boom Boom Rocket is an addictive and original challenge for all types of gamer, and we're enjoying working with EA to create this unique Xbox Live Arcade experience", said Martyn Chudley, Managing Director of Bizarre Creations. "Our teams love both working and playing on Xbox Live Arcade, and we're looking forward to releasing another innovative title on this platform with Boom Boom Rocket."
