Book Review: All My Tomorrows by Kathleen Sherwood
Published January 10, 2007
All My Tomorrows is a Christian romance with a lot of heart. Alexa Turner is a veterinarian who is trying to recover from the tragic death of her father. When the story starts out she is just on the verge of moving from the veterinarian practice she shared with him in Missouri. She needs a new start and a veterinarian friend of her father living in Kentucky offers Alexa a spot in his practice doing small animal work.
Once in Kentucky Alexa, who has spent time praying for God to bring someone to her, meets Cole Jamison, who is kind enough to let her use his guest house on his ranch until she can find a place of her own. Both are uneasy about the other at first, all too aware of their mutual attraction. But soon a friendship begins to grow.
As Alexa and Cole move closer she must overcome the painful memories that fill her past. But with God’s help Alexa can move through her pain and on to the life she wants for herself. Full of sweet moments, warm-hearted characters, as well as a few twists, this is a satisfying story of the love that God can bring to your life.
I enjoyed All My Tomorrows but the story was jumpy. The author moved you ahead before you really got your bearings. The characters, while being warm and lovable, were two-dimensional, having often stilted conversations. The situations the characters found themselves in seemed contrived and forced, with the author struggling to reach a certain point.
I really wanted to love this book, and I’m sorry that I didn’t, but it was hard to get past the poor flow.
