Mac Game Review: Aki Mahjong Solitaire

Are you not always ready to play a twitch-fest of a game that takes more than a few hours to get any satisfaction? Well this wee game for the Mac may just be something that might be worthy of your time now and then.

For those of you that don't know what mahjong is, its a game where one matches pairs of tiles, attempting to eliminate all of them from the board and reveal the scene below them.

Despite being fairly easy to get to grips with (the game has a button that suggests pairs for you), it does get rather get challenging at higher levels. There is a neat little button, which allows you to re-jig the tiles to make sure you have pairs available to you.

There is also a counter that tells you how many moves you have left. This changes after one finds pairs and/or one re-jigs the tiles.

This version, Aki Mahjong, is quite a nice little game. It runs really well, does not crash, and is not at all complicated. The game allows you to get into it rather quickly and it does rather well at holding your attention.

There are three levels from easy to bloody insane. As you move around the Japanese map unlocking tile sets, there is enough to keep you coming back for more.

If you like mahjong and need a new version for your Mac, then I can highly recommend this. If you don't know what mahjong is and are looking for an interesting tile game that is not too hard, too time consuming or too complicated then Aki Mahjong might be the one for you.
