Acclaim Announces More Dance! Details
Published December 07, 2006
Marketed as the first online dancing MMOG in the United States, David Perry has his hands full with not only the upcoming RPG 2Moons but also the rhythm-based Dance!.
Still under development, the game is billed to allow players create customized characters and take them to the dance floor against other players in a real-time music battle. Players can match with a player of the opposite sex to enter couples competitions and if they're looking to become even more of a couple, the players' in-game characters can even be married online.

Acclaim today released a batch of screenshots for the upcoming title that not only give players a first look at what Dance!'s game play is slated to look like, but also a small taste of song titles that are possible for the game.
Looking at the game play, gamers familiar with the concept of Konami's Dance Dance Revolution should be in no shock as the four-arrow step layout appears in full effect. One of the screenshots also captured a hold arrow, akin to the arrows that demand to be held down for a set period of time in DDR, being hit during a song.

During game play the players' characters are displayed in one of a few different locales including an alleyway and a tropical beach line. The screen captures feature the characters busting out dance moves but at this time it's undetermined whether the dancing reflects a player's in-game performance or if they are just an implemented routine that cycles through the song like in DDR.

Songs currently listed in the game’s screenshots include:
No Guarantee
Ivory Asia
China-Joy
Guitar-Rave
Ready Pulse
Moonlight Shadow
Popz Walker
Hidden Voice
All of the songs seem to be original tracks made for the game (or possibly one of the Korean games it is based on) with the exception of Moonlight Shadow which could possibly be a version or remix of Mike Oldfield's song (which has been featured in mixes of DDR.
A closed beta test of the game has yet to begin and players who are interested in being considered should visit Acclaim's Web site to register. Acclaim recently opened its first title BOTS for full open play with a re-design of its site. All online games on Acclaim's site are free to play through advertising and in-game item purchasing.
