Hasselbeck and Alexander Put the Seahawks Back On Track, 34-24
Published November 28, 2006
It was a wild first half for Seattle's quarterback Matt Hasselbeck as he made his return to the starting lineup.
In Seattle's first-ever snow home game, Hasselbeck threw three interceptions in the first quarter and a fumble in the second that was returned for a touchdown by the Green Bay Packers' Abdul Hodge.
A first-quarter interception in the end-zone by Kelly Herndon kept the Hawks from going even further behind while Josh Brown put up four field-goals against two Green Bay touchdowns in the first half.
By the end of halftime, the snow subsided as the Hawks turned on the heat. After Brett Favre landed a 48-yard pass to Donald Driver to go up 21-12, the Hawks answered with a 62-yard touchdown drive in the third and a 77-yard touchdown drive in the fourth plus a two-point conversion. Green Bay pulled within three on a 34-yard field goal, but a three-yard touchdown pass to Jerramy Stevens followed by two interceptions on Favre by Marcus Trufant and Kelly Jennings (his 1st career interception) put it out of their reach.
Despite the shaky beginning, Matt Hasselbeck seemed to regain his rhythm for the second half after four weeks of rehab. He completed 17 of 36 passes for 157 yards. Running back Shaun Alexander set a franchise record with 40 carries (also his career high), and rushed for 201 yards.
With St. Louis edging out San Francisco on Sunday, the Hawks now sit on top of the NFC West by two games. Next they head to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday night.

<nerd>All I know is that Deion Branch had 38 yards, and that's awesome because had he had 40, I would have lost in fantasy football this week.</nerd>
