Grouper.com to feature film clips from Sony Films
Grouper.com will have film clips for use in blogs and social networking from Sony Films. The clips will come from over 100 films and will be able to share the films without copyright hassle. Sony Pictures Entertainment bought Grouper.com. The films users will be able to choose from will include such stars as Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson and Cameron Diaz.
Beatles broke the law, says Bank of England
The Bank of England has said that the John Lennon and George Harrison in the past had committed financial offences, and that they were not prosecuted for it. Secret documents that have been published under Freedom of Information laws show that the Bank was interested in how the stars were moving money into and out of the United Kingdom and found that they had broken the law. The documents reveal these were “technical offences.” The Beatles are set to release an album of “mash-ups” on November 20th.
Yahoo debuts new email/IM application
Yahoo has debuted a new application that combines instant messaging and email. The application, which is designed to attract less technically inclined users. The application will show email users when the email recipient is on IM. Users will be able to simply click and IM the person. That application was debuted at the Web 2.0 summit.
