Xbox 360 Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07

Spending time online this year is mostly pleasant. The good news is lag is not an issue, getting booted after one or two holes is also a thing of the past.

Sometimes — though it is getting better — you see a flashing "Select Golfer/Loading Lobby Room" screen for a number of minutes before you can get into a lobby, or create a match.

All things considered, though, playing online is smooth and error-free.

Whereas NBA Live 07 set the bar this year for ESPN integration, Tiger 07 does a nice job, even though it isn't as robust.

You can turn on a sports ticker, a great feature for any sports game. My only wish here is to see the sports ticker during actual play, or at set intervals during play.

Reading ESPN News stories is also available here, yet there is no video.

The ESPN Radio integration gives you updates every 20 minutes. It is a wonderful addition, but when you go back to the menu (and you do when training and in other game modes), quite often you hear the same thing over and over.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is what we all wanted last year. But there are little complaints in having it this year. The flaws are heavily outweighed by the new True Aiming, and numerous game modes.

Online golfing is also smooth, with One-Ball being the most fun to play. Daily tournaments are back; only this time, money is handed out to a few more top finishers this year, a nice change over last.

Hopefully, next year, the Universal Capture (UCAP) technology will be taken to new heights. Tiger looks great, but others need work — some needing more than others.

Even though there are only 12 courses, they are highly detailed. But there is no hiding the simple numbers game: 21 for current-gen, and only 12 on Xbox 360. Game play modes, however, they nailed this year.

There is always room for improvement, and hopefully, next year's installment will see the same leap Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 got.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB for Mild Violence. This game can also be found on: PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox, Mobile Phone.
