Phantasy Star Universe Beta Launches Tomorrow
Published October 10, 2006
RPG fans that own a 360 will get a little taste of what Phantasy Star Universe will offer during a free open beta test.
Sega is looking to fill in the void of the 360's thin lineup of RPG games and is scheduled to release Phantasy Star Universe on Oct. 24. Starting Wednesday, an online multiplayer mode of PSU will be available for download for free until the end of Thursday. Once downloaded, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to play the game until Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The testing will help Sega test the servers and the company claims the testing will reflect as much of the final release as possible at this time in development.
The beta testing allows players to choose from four different character races and customize them with weapon configurations for melee, technique or ranged-type combat in online play.
The new game in the series ups your available party space from four to six as multiple players explore new environments spread over three separate worlds.
The lobby will allow for players to customize their own game rooms, send player invites and create a shop in order to sell goods they no longer need.
