Xbox 360 Review: Lego Star Wars II - The Original Trilogy
Published October 05, 2006
Last weekend we picked up LEGO Star Wars II, for the Xbox 360, and my husband and I took some time to play co-op. Let me tell you, it rocks! At first I thought this game was just for the kiddies, being "LEGO" and all, but I was wrong. It was a lot of fun.
LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy takes the usual fun of a LEGO game and applies it to the original trilogy, Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI, or as some fans refer to it, "The Holy Trinity." Though it's a little strange that this game comes after the first LEGO Star Wars, which focused on Episodes I, II, and III, this game was worth the wait.
Being huge Star Wars fans, my husband and I had to give this game a try. And we figured even if the game didn't appeal to us, our kids would love it. But we were pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was! It's funny and cute, without being too cute.
There are a few tips and tricks to learn, but the game drops you in the Mos Eisley cantina at the start of the game. This allows you to get the hang of the controls, and to create your profile. Take your time here. Blow up and pick up as much as you can. You'll also find yourself back here when you leave and restart a game.
One of the only spots I found annoying was something I dislike about most two-player games: proximity. This one is a real stickler. I found myself being drug all over the place by my husband. He was even dragging me off ledges and bridges and such. So if you play with a partner, stick together!
Also, if you play with a friend, be sure to grab up all the LEGO pieces they drop when they die. Every time you fall off of something, or just get shot/hit too often, you die and lose a bunch of LEGO pieces, so if you can, have someone collect them.
I loved the rest of the game, especially the humor. If you're a fan of the movies, you'll quickly recognize the parts where this deviates. But hello, it's LEGO.
You can't stick too close to the script when you're dealing with LEGOs. Besides, one of my favorite things about this game is playing as Chewbacca and ripping people's arms out of their sockets.
Oh, and don't be too shocked to stumble across some Stormtroopers bathing together. It's funny, and a little disturbing.
I won't ruin the entire game for you, mostly because I'm still in "Episode V," just leaving Hoth, but I will tell you that no matter how old you are, if you like Star Wars — and have any kind of sense of humor — you'll really enjoy this game.
Kudos to LEGO Star Wars II for capitalizing on great game play, while having fun with the simple combination of LEGOs and the Star Wars Universe.
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and older) by the ERSB for for Cartoon Violence, Crude Humor. This game can also be found on: GBA, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PC, PS2, PSP, and Xbox.

same problem with pc version
I got stuck on the end of battle of endor. Unlocked the 4 door locks. Pulled the levers. nothing. Red force field still up. Driving me mad.
On the battle of endor, I had the same problem playing with 2 people when the switches were not pulled at the same time. Have one person "drop out" from the menu right before pulling the switches.
The glitch on Jabba's yacth happened to me too. Is there any solution to this problem?
i can't beat the game i have beaten everything gotten everything except two canisters one on jedi destiny and secret plans i can't find them i have the mini kit detector it says were they are i have tried absolutely everything there is but they will not appear can anyone help me??????
to blow up the generators you have to shoot them more than once i think 3 times
If you are in free play you can blow them up using a bountyhunter.
We're having trouble with the game freezing at different points. Any ideas?
in secret plans, the minikit detector is pointing to the wall. you have to use the force on two of the things on the wall. it took me FOREVER to figure this out! i thought my minikit detector was broken!
i finsihed the game...u guys must have done a mistake or sumfing
There are loads of bugs in Lego Star Wars II, for example in the forest of Endor at the point where you can pilot a large ATST and have to schoot the for targets around it, you can actually fall off the level and walk around on the ground next to the ATST where you can't die or proceed to the next part of the level. Is there a 'kill' command that can being used during gameplay?

I think this game has a glitch. Last section of episode VI, chapter 2. Can't blow up the left generator (or beacon). Therefore can't progress.
I've tried two different Disks. Exactlly the same problem. Even the leggo people can't solve it. There are no patches, no skip level cheats. So I paid $89 for 2/3 of a game.
