Pixies Set to Release DVD and The Daily Music and Tech News

Due out in the States tomorrow, the Pixies are releasing a live DVD. On the DVD will be a 29-song performance from a club show in Boston from 2004. The DVD is also said to include a bonus of the first recorded show of the band playing from 1986. Some of the songs performed on the DVD are “Gouge Away”, “Caribou”, “La La Love You”, and “Waves of Mutilation”.
Netflix to offer prize for better movie picks
Netflix has announced that it will pay $1 million to the first person that develops software that improves their recommendation system by 10%. The popular online DVD rental company's current system picks recommendations by asking users to rate films they’ve seen and then making a unique list of recommendations based on the results. The current system is built on more than one billion ratings and can predict a consumer’s rating within one star.
Foo Fighters set to release live CD
The Foo Fighters are set to release a live CD made from recordings made on the road during their recent acoustic tour. The album will be titled Skin and Bones and is due to hit stores on November 7th and will include the songs “My Hero”, “Friend of a Friend”, and “Best of You” among others.
