Comic Review: DC Comics (Post Infinite Crisis) 52, Week 16
Published September 29, 2006
Oh, how beautiful. Black Adam has found a bride, and it's probably the best thing that ever happened to the guy. Black Adam is smiling in nearly every poster spread across his country of Khandaq and he has gathered together the entire Marvel family (Captain Marvel, Cap Jr., and Mary Marvel) to join in this momentous occasion. Only the happy Marvel family has no idea what's going on at street level, but it's lucky for them that Renee Montoya and the Question are on the case.
Even though Montoya and Question aren't feeling too happy after being locked up by the lovely authorities of Khandaq, they are still out to uncover the truth, namely what Intergang is up to. Clues lead right to the location of the Black Adam/Isis wedding, and what Montoya and Question find is not too pleasant, especially in Montoya's case. She has to make a heavy decision that no one would want to make.
These two storylines, Black Adam's and Renee/Question, go great together. It's as obvious a match as putting peanut butter with jelly. Now, if we could put Steel together with someone more interesting, more people would give a damn about his predicament. Just kidding! But not really.
Black Adam and Isis' wedding takes up most of the issue, so the only other story that moves forward is the heroes in space story, where things are looking up. However, the teaser image for next week depicts none other than Lobo, The Main Man.
Check out the supplement of this week's 52 with Black Adam's origin. I liked this one because I know little about the head-ripping, Shazam-powered maniac who started as (and now is) a dark hero.
