Band Of The Week: The Perfect Addiction

This week's Band of the Week is The Perfect Addiction, a rock/screamo Christian band out of the northeastern United States. David Jackson (lead vocals), Caleb Momyer (lead guitar), Andy Rogers (guitar), Josh McCann (bass), and Sean Altenburg (drums and vocals) have been playing together since 2005. They have strong Christian beliefs but they consider themselves rockers, who are Christian, making mainstream music.

Christian or not these guys know how to make music. The Perfect Addiction are a solid rock band with an interesting, strong, Lost Prophet-esque sound and a lot of desire to succeed. And with a loyal and ever-growing fan base – their fans include BC's own music editor Connie Phillips who recently reviewed their live show - and a new CD, Don’t Let Go, they are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I recently got the chance to chat with the boys over the phone.

How did you guys get together?

The Perfect AddictionCaleb: We started about three years ago. I was in a separate band and David was jamming with some other people, happy with what was going on with us. And then we lost our drummer.

Lost your drummer how? Did he leave or did he die?

Caleb: (all laugh) No… no… he just quit.

David: I wondered, I thought they’re not here anymore, they’re no longer with us! (all laugh)

Caleb: So then not too long after that, our bass player decided to leave us as well. So we kinda got another drummer at the time and then we got Josh. Me and David have known each other for a long time. We met Josh from his old band (Souls Incarnate), well I met him when I was with my first band (Mind Blank).

So how long have you been together?

How does this thing work againI'm a writer and music journalist originally from Salt Lake City, but now living in Scotland. I was a Punk/Goth in the '80s and these artistic influences have stayed with me; although a love of Chopin, chamber music, and Spanish guitar would seem to belie this. I am the managing editor for AllThingsGirl.com, assistant music editor at Blogcritics.org, staff writer for a gay men's magazine based in Edinburgh, and a freelance writer.

I have seen these guys 3 or 4 times in concert at the Alley in Hicksville and at pontiac park. They are really good i am not into the whole christian music deal but these guys are more than that they have real talent and they are using it to spread a good message. If the youth of america needs anything it is a positive influence and The Perfect Addiction does just that.
