Lance Armstrong's Life Story Flick Spawns Gay Rumors, Lots Of Publicity

The first thing to note in all this is that Lance Armstrong (34), Matthew McConaughey (36) and Jake Gyllenhaal (25) are really good friends and bike buddies, and have been for years.
Jake Gyllenhaal (an avid cyclist) has put himself into rigorous training in an all-out bid to play Lance Armstrong in a possible Sony movie of the 
7-time Tour de France winner’s life. In fact, word in Hollywood is that it’s more than just “possible” and that method-actor Jake already has a lock on the role, which is why Gyllenhaal has been spending so much time with Armstrong lately.
Despite that, Jake seems to be playing with his fans, using his success from Brokeback Mountain to get advance publicity and maybe start some very interesting gay 3-way romantic rumors. What’s even more surprising is that his two best pals Armstrong and McConaughey seem to be playing along!
What intensified all the speculation was when Lance Armstrong appeared on stage at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater with his two friends in the audience. On camera at the ESPY awards last month to accept his 4th c
onsecutive "Best Male Athlete" award, he good-naturedly began crudely ribbing Jake, introducing him to the audience as his very good friend and then pausing with a frown to ask Gyllenhaal why he was sitting up front when he thought Jake liked it “in the rear.”
Then he introduced McConaughey as his friend of seven years and pointed out that Matt was the most recent People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. Suddenly glancing over at Jake like a jealous lover, Lance sternly reprimanded him by pointing at himself and warning Gyllenhaal that his eyes belonged only on Armstrong! As a result, sports betting websites like Bodog began laying 3 to 1 odds that Gyllenhaal’s next paparazzi captured kiss would be with Armstrong. Gyllenhaal and McConaughey got 2 to 1 odds. On the other hand, a smooch between Jake and on-again off-again girlfriend Natalie Portman only got 1 in 3!

Since I read a lot of sports news, I had never heard these rumors before, and it was just a matter of fact-checking. I figured others would have the same problemo.
Lance didn't divorce either of his wives because he was gay, it was because -- to steal a line from Bill Scheft -- he kept finishing 7 minutes ahead of them.

The best part of those ESPY Awards was the Will Ferrell song about Lance Armstrong.
It wasn't the skit so much that made my night, it was the fact that the moment after Ferrell made a Paris Hilton joke, they panned to Matt Leinart in the audience.
I know it's on YouTube somewhere. But that was priceless -- even more so because it's a recorded episode.

Jet, Every now and then, when I switch from one BC thread to another, not all the comments show until I refresh the new thread a second time. I'm running Firefox and sometimes have as many as 12 or 13 BC threads open in tabs--that's when it usually happens.
BTW, Lance Armstrong is one of my modern (as opposed to historical) heroes. I hope the accusations about drugs prove to be BS.

Maybe I'm confused (it wouldn't be unprecedented!), but I thought a new round had started in the last few weeks?
That's what I thought, but maybe I'm confusing it with the Landis thing.
Clavos, Landis was required to give two samples, which I assumed were given at the same time labeled A and B. They're working on the B sample now.
What puzzles me is that that doping stuff isn't exactly what you'd call fast-acting and you'd think it'd have shown up in his samples before this, or still be in his system now....
I think that, at least in the case of Armstrong, the French gunned for him because it pissed them off that he won the Tour so many times, non?

It's widely speculated here in Austin that Matthew McConaughey is gay, but Lance Armstrong who's also an Austinite is generally believed to be straight. As for Gyllenhall, who the hell of either gender would want to have sex with him unless it ended terminally. He's one seriously irritating dude.

Daaaaave, the rumors were started by the three of them as a publicity stunt to promote the movie! No one actually believe's Lance is gay, though there are those of us who do fantasize (especially after seeing that photo of him and Matthew).
As for Jake GyllenHaal, different strokes for different folks...
...maybe I should rephrase that...
The rumors of Matthew go waaay back before anyone even thought of this movie.

Okay, someone's not paying attention here, and it might be me. Matthew isn't in the planned movie, he's just shacking up with "Straight" Lance Armstrong and biking around in tight spandex with Jake and Lance.
I've always thought Matt was gay-he's waaaaay to pretty to be straight, after all it was a toss up as to who was the beard between Jodie Foster and Matt during "Contact"
Lance may be straight, but many of us wish he wasn't, and who knows walking around dressed like that in Matthew's beach house....

Sorry but I don't think Jake is playing with his fanbase with stupid rumors. To place all the extra gossip on Jake is unfair and immature. Jake didn't write the ESPY jokes and he didn't say them either, Lance did. Lance and Matt are staying at the same beach house. And I am sure Lance and Matt have their own PR and reasons for doing all this, so it isn't all Jake.
Dave, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think Jake is great and a very talented actor.

Gyllenhaal told the audience that he wanted to do something to thank fans of his movie "Brokeback Mountain." So he put on a black wig, ripped off his clothes to reveal a long, spangled black dress and sang Effie's big song from "Dreamgirls," "And I'm Telling You, I'm Not Going."
Gyllenhaal really got into it, singing in a falsetto and showing off his biceps in his sleeveless gown.
The audience went nuts, including the two cast members dressed as cowboys.
