Steel is looking less and less like the guy who chose to step in for Superman and more like his own character. Okay, he looks like a cross between Marvel Comics' Colossus and Terminator 2's T-1000, but he's still cool. I don't really like that Steel's new abilities are attached to Lex Luthor. I like accidents in a lab, super-powered rings, magic, but no evil powers handed down from a wicked genius. That's just wrong.

With all that said, this is the least interesting story of the three presented this week. I know when Lex Luthor goes full force into his plan, I will be at the edge of my seat, but for now, all he's got is a team of manufactured metahumans who look strangely like heroes I've seen before. Herakles? Please. I want some newer superpowers on the block. I would like to see a new, cool hero or villain with new abilities. Maybe this Supernova guy will wow me with what he does in 52 Week 10.

I have to give a little nod to a section I have avoided talking about in previous reviews. "The History of the DC Universe" is nothing new to anyone who's boned up on their knowledge of the DCU and it's presented in a really elementary school fashion. Now, I have to say that I'm happy about "The History of the DC Universe" - because this series is almost over.

In this issue, Diana Troy recalls Identity Crisis, the tragic precursor to the galaxy-wide smackdown, Infinite Crisis. If you skipped Identity Crisis, which was a great series, then you can catch the good bits within a handful of pages. The recounting of DCU history continues next week, but I hope that is where it ends. It's about time for something new in the back pages. I'll see you in a week.
