PS2 Review: The Bible Game (EU)
Published July 06, 2006
Once the mini-game is over, your points are added up and integrated into your main quiz score for that round. Once all the rounds are over, you get one final chance to increase your score by risking your points in the "Grace of God" round, which is based on Adam and Eve's Tree of Knowledge, where you have to guess where fruit is to increase your score, and avoid the evil snake that convinces Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.
The Bible Game isn't be most well presented quiz game you'll ever play, with jagged edges everywhere, character models that could easily be achieved on a PSOne, repetitive elevator style music in rounds, and heavy fogging in mini games, but it does have some sort of strange charm with it's simplicity.
I think the whole concept of this game is rather skewed. It's designed to be a party game, but religion is just too serious and too important a matter for the majority of us to enjoy playing in a party environment. I mean, If you've got a few friends round the house, drinking a few beers, and in a party spirit, will you really turn around and say "I know what'll bring this party up to a new level of fun — The Bible Game!"?
For families with heavy Christian beliefs that want to have some friendly fun on a family night before the kids go to bed, this might be ideal. But for the majority of us, this wouldn't be the case. If most of us want to play a social game, I'm certain that we'd like to play one based on a lighter topic.
The Bible Game would only really be enjoyable for a very niche market, and it will probably be widely ignored by the mainstream, but if you think you'd like a religious quiz show and you don't mind risking £30 on something you'll possibly get bored of after a play or two, give this a try.
For the rest of us, you're better off spending your £30 elsewhere.
The Bible Game is rated 3+ by the PEGI. This game can also be found on: GBA, Xbox.

Akira, You forget though, The Bible was written some 2000 years ago, and literature has come leaps and bounds since those times. By today's standards The Bible is obviously flawed, but back then it was one of the finest pieces of literature ever written. I should have added "for the time" at the end of the sentence about The Bible, but as I merely printed that paragraph to explain that even though I am Atheist I was able to get onto a train of thought with this title that was fair and unbiased, I don't think it's necessary to edit that line into it.
At first I was thinking of leaving my opinion on Christianity out of the final review, but I feel that the extra paragraph added my personal perspective coming into this review and gives readers a better explaination of how I came to my conclusions on the title.
Don't forget, I wasn't reviewing The Bible itself or writing an article about the complex topic of Religion when I was writing up the review for this game. I was merely taking the title for what it was - a Quiz Show style game with questions about a book - The Bible, and how I interpreted the book that the game based it's questions on.
As far as the personal comment, just look at this world. There is a very delicate balance that allows us as human the chance to live on this earth. Tweak this and it's to hot, tweak that and not enough air to breathe, etc. From that perspective their was obviously a greater force that created this earth. The choice you have from that point is rather that creating force is hands off or hands on with its creation. If you were to truly study this area with an open mind, I think you would find that there is an hands on creator. The Bible is part of His work.
As for as the game, I get a disk read error when trying to play the game.
amen Greg
Jesus is the answer. How do you wake up in the morning? Believe in Jesus. The Bible will help you grow in faith. Follow what it says about the 10 commandments. Jesus is coming soon. The signs of the times are everywhere. You need to get ready please...please...i dont want you to be lost. trust me, im only 12. please turn to GOD. I will pray for you.
I have not played the game, although, I have read The Bible and it is filled with undeniable facts. It was written 2,000-3,000 years ago yet it is filled with all the scientific facts, facts scientist did not believe then. Facts such as: the earth being a sphere! Incalculable number of stars! Free float of earth in space! Creation made of invincible elements! Each star is different! Light movement! Air having weight! Winds blowing in cyclones! Ocean floor containing Valleys Mountains and springs! Upon researching all these facts I have concluded that The Bible is of supernatural origin. Therefore take heed to its promise of heaven. Let's see if you qualify to enter heaven: have you ever lied (even once-fibs, white lies)? Have you ever stolen (value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? if you have said yes to these, by your own admission you are a liar, a thieve and an adulterer at heart; you see God has "written His law in you heart", "given light to every man" this is called your conscience (con meaning with, science meaning knowledge) so having knowledge of right and wrong you choose to do wrong anyways. Webster's dictionary says that for a person to be good they have to be "morally perfect". Only God is good, and being the good judge that He is He cannot turn a blind eye to what you have done; He has to be Just. The bible declares, "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus" so all that you have earned is a paycheck of death but God can give you something that you haven't earned...eternal life. Can a leopard change his spots? Neither can you behavior modify yourself to be a good person, because, "the pig always returns to wallow in the mud and the dog always returns to his vomit". You see, "the things you know you ought to do you don't do and the things you ought not to do you do". there was only one way "that one should die for all" Christ took your punishment of death along with the sinful nature (human nature) that enslaves you to sin; He nailed both on the cross and after 3 days rose from the grave defeating death (everyone's bones still lie in their tombs but His tomb is empty, because, "He has risen"). Romans 10:9, 10 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Confess all you're adulteries of the heart and repent for today is the day of salvation tomorrow is not promised. It is not a mental ascent but truly believing to the point of death. Remember you're life is but a vapor in the wind and what will you say to Him then?

I believe that many years ago, there was a very clever writer, who penned a novel called The Bible.
I'm sorry, but I tend to agree with Penn Jillette's overall review of The Bible:
"It sure isn't great literature. If it were published as fiction, no reviewer would giving it a passing grade. There are some vivid scenes and some quotable phrases, but there's no plot, no structure, there's a tremendous amount of filler and the characters are painfully one-dimensional."
