One principled cable news network, and a beleaguered conservative radio talk host in a sea of corrupt news dissemenation services hardly constitutes my belief as being disproven.

But truth is gaining ground. At least among those who are willing to see it.

I guess you could make the argument that the "Big Joe Polka Show" on RFD cable means Polka music is "mainstream".

But Limbaugh has a weekly audience of what, 12 million? That IS mainstream media, so his very popularity disproves your belief. Then look at Fox News, which has bigger audiences than CNN.

Hardly a "corrupt partisan media", at least not in the sense you meant it...

I do think that Christopher. Limbaugh demonstrates the bias nearly every day.

Of course I wouldn't need him to point out the blatantly obvious.

For whatever reason, many people aren't comfortable with truth.

Notice REMF's non-reaction to the exposure of Rush's draft-dodging hoax.

Dan, if you think all the media in the USA is in service to what is laughingly called the Left of US politics, I can only assume you are one of the people he appears to patronise.

All politicians are hypocritical, it's forced upon them by the very nature of the current political system.

Christopher, for another opinion from someone who actually listens to Limbaugh's show regularly, I can tell you that Rush is hyper-intelligent, witty, and nearly always right.

On his show, he does the job that the corrupt partisan media refuses to do, which is to expose liberal Democrats hypocrisy, and the media's complicity.

He exposes them with their own words. And it works.

That's why they're always angry with him, and attempting to silence him through dishonest smears, like the latest "phony soldiers" mis-information.

Indeed, Christopher. Limbaugh is a pompous simpleton, but infinitely more entertaining than the tripe that has come up in this comment thread. I haven't listened to or read Limbaugh in years, and I don't intend to read MCH any more, either.

Chris, since that sort of talk radio doesn't really exist on our side of the pond, I suppose the closest equivalent to Limbaugh would be either the editorial page of The Sun or the Young Conservatives' conference.

Chris,

Lardbaugh's draft dodging was thoroughly researched by Paul Colford in "The Rush Limbaugh Story," who dedicates an entire chapter in his book to it, titled "Beating the Draft."

I'll ask you (since Winn ignored the question); Lardbaugh claims he "didn't do anything to evade or avoid" the draft...so why did he lie about a phony "football knee," and about the time-frame of being awarded his medical deferment?

And I stand by the reality of the 1970 draft, since I was there and witnessed at least two guys with numbers higher than 152 get drafted, one of whom was in the high 180s.

Yeah, it's been researched. I included a link above. The reality interferes with MCH's favorite trope, though, so it's overlooked in favor of silliness.

I don't understand why there is such contentious debate about Limbaugh's story. Is it not a matter of public record? I would have thought it an easy matter to research if anyone actually cared enough...

Might want to get your facts straight, Winn. I was there for the 1970 lottery, and they went all the way up to #190 for that group. I knew several guys with higher numbers than 152 who got drafted.

Lardbaugh has publicly told at least two lies regarding his draft-dodging, including 1) that he received his medical deferment "before the lottery was called" and 2) that his deferment was for "a football knee."

Paul Colford disproved both of those lies in his book "The Rush Limbaugh Story." The truth is, Lardbaugh received his deferment AFTER the lottery, awarded to him by his family physician (who was an old buudy of Rush's dad) on his own initiative.

And his deferment was for a pilonidal cyst. Lardbaugh's H.S. coach and a teammate both told Colford the "football knee" story was spurious.

So Phil, I'm curious, any opinion on Lardbaugh's repetitious attack of Bill Clinton, when he continuosly stated, "Never trust a draft dodger!"

Give it a rest: "Limbaugh's birth date was selected 152nd in the 1970 draft lottery, and since the highest lottery number ultimately called for this group was 125, he wouldn't have been drafted in 1971 no matter what his classification." [Snopes]

I don't like Limbaugh, but using a spam comment on a year-old article as a trigger to trot out a logical fallacy that doesn't even apply in this case is silly.

Ruvy;

The main reason I think Limbaugh is such a piece of shit, is because here's a guy who's made a fortune pretending to be a patriot (received a medical deferment from the draft for a pimple on his ass), while many of the real heroes of Vietnam are living in cardboard boxes, they're so screwed up from their ordeal over there.

Nowadays the media wants to portray anyone who`s found using sex pills or taking an erotic vacation as a perv, but we all know we`ve taken that road before. Rush Limbaugh is a man like any other, and it`s hard to read about this story from so many angles and different views, without noticing the distortions in the story. He was not with children in the DR, he was just a guest at some men`s club ( some say www.charlisangels.com could be a target )where adult women work as companions. The DR has many nice resorts, and bad ones too. But to say that Rush was with children, that`s too much. See the webpage ( charlisangels ) and tell us if you see a minor in the escorts gallery. NONE FOUND. So why all the bells and whistles?

"He worked out a deal last month in which a "doctor shopping" charge against him would be dropped so long as he avoided arrested during the next 18 months, among other terms."

And wasn't it one of those "liberal" lawyers Limbaugh supposedly despises who helped him beat the rap? What a hypocrite.
