Oregon State Wins The College World Series.The hardest working Beavers in the country became the second-northern most college to ever win the NCAA College World Series. How’s that for a distinction? The best-of-three CWS offered up some fantastic baseball, as the University of North Carolina and OSU battled throughout, but some "untimely" hitting and fielding did in the Tar Heels.

In the final game UNC had runners on first and second with nobody out in the top of the second, and couldn’t push the go-ahead run across the plate. In the CWS teams that were in this same situation – men on first and second with no outs – scored 75% of the time. Then in the top of the ninth, the UNC second baseman made a bad throw on a routine grounder that should have ended the inning, and allowed the Beavers to score what proved to be the winning run. Remember boys and girls, don’t give your opponents second chances.

World Cup Soccer. I would like to address a rumor that’s been floating around out there. Serbia Montenegro is NOT related to pop music composer Hugo Montenegro, the man who wrote the theme song for I Dream Of Jeannie and other television shows. There, now I feel much better.

The Embarrassing New York Knicks. Just when you thought this situation couldn’t turn into more of a cluster-fuck, head cluster-fucker James Dolan out cluster-fucks himself. After making a fine mess out of everything that he’s done with the formerly proud occupants of Madison Square Garden, most recently firing Larry Brown and saying Brown violated his contract, Dolan comes out and says he’s giving Isiah Thomas only one year to fix the Knicks or else he to will be fired.

The only possible option Thomas has is to get someone else to buy the team and then fire himself.

Jose Canseco. On June 27th, Jose told ESPN radio’s Colin Cowherd that he feels that the performance-enhancing drug conspiracy in Major League Baseball goes all the way to the top and that Bud Selig and his henchmen are fully aware of everything that has gone on under their collective noses. Jose went on to say that team personnel and player agents were involved with providing these drugs to players, and that he wouldn’t be surprised in we find out that a team’s general manager has been using these drugs. He also said what we’ve seen come out over the past few months is still just the tip of the iceberg and we’ll find out more about athletes in other sports as this story develops. I believed him then and I believe him now.
