Hip-hip hooray — it’s opening day! Ari is pumped as can be and before he even gets out of bed, he’s on the phone to E, waking him up. E's grumbling changes when Ari tells him that the studio is projecting a $95 million opening weekend. E relays this news to Vince and the others. Over breakfast, the boys start tossing around numbers, wondering if they’ll have a chance to beat Spider-Man’s opening figure of $114-something.

Though Ari had to turn down his wife’s request for sex, he’s still in a chipper mood as he reaches his office. Lloyd presents him with a good luck token, a miniature 12th century warrior which is a Mongolian symbol of strength. Ari is surprised, but not displeased. Then Lloyd hits him with the news that he’s scheduled an appointment with Ari and Dinah’s therapist at the request of Dinah, Ari’s wife. Lloyd’s defense, “I’m afraid of your wife!” Now, Ari can relate to this!

Vince and the boys head to an out-of-the-way theater “in the valley.” Unfortunately the valley is one of Drama’s pet peeves, mostly because of the high temperatures. He’s been tossing back the bottled water, and has adopted the look of an overheated prizefighter, wearing a towel on his head. The poor guy is just about reduced to monosyllabic responses.

But he and the others are heartened at the crowd at the theater. It was a kick to see them sitting in the rear of the place, taking in not only the movie, but also the audience’s reactions. Absorbed faces show people are really enjoying the story. Right before a crucial scene, one of the guys sees a man leaving his seat. Turtle calls down, “Hey, where ya going — the best scene is coming up!” The man responds that he has to go to the bathroom. He advances further down the aisle. The camera swings to Drama, sitting there, towel still on his head. You truly get the sense that this is no longer our goodtime Johnny Drama, in his place sits young Anakin, right before he morphs into Darth Vader. Face like stone, he utters two words, “Sit. Down.” The man sits down.

Wow. Now that is some Jedi Mind Trick.

The powerful James Cameron directed footage plays out on the big screen. The music intensifies as crowds are fleeing along a dock, away from some dire, unseen thing. Vince’s tuxedo-clad character, Aquaman, is running towards the crowd, towards the unknown disaster, whipping off his bow tie — all in urgent athletic elegance. As he reaches the end of the dock, he executes a dive that would make Greg Loughanis envious, and...
