PSP Review: Lemmings

The game also supports expansion packs similar to what WipEout Pure has, through the official website (US, Europe).
The amount of community-made levels really shows just how effortless it is to create new challenges in Lemmings. If not for this editor and online portal, this would be a really short romp down memory lane.
This PSP port does include some new controls. There is a handy lock-on feature, and an automatic completion option. There is, however, one glaring problem with the way you control the "mouse."
Instead of using the analog stick, the D-pad is used for all pointer movement. The analog stick moves the camera, which many times does not need moving at all. These controls really need to be switched. But get used to them you will.
The only real missing component is multiplayer support. Considering how many iterations of Lemmings have multiplayer, this oversight on the PSP is quite suspect. The game does support Ad Hoc Mode, but this is only for game sharing.
Lemmings translates very well to the PSP. The new 3-D graphics and clean user interface make this as fun to play now as it did...all those years ago. The levels were always designed to be completed quickly, so handhelds are the prime medium.
Sans multiplayer, this is the best version yet. People who have never played Lemmings before are in for more than seasoned veterans, but all will have great fun escorting the lemmings to safety.
Lemmings on the PSP is a solid port with worthwhile extras, and thankfully keeps to the original formula.
Lemmings is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB for Mild Cartoon Violence. This game can also be found on too many platforms to mention here.
