Abu Musab al-Zarqawi: Sorry Excuse For a Master Terrorist, and Still Dead

Written by Al Barger

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed Wednesday in a house northwest of Baghdad. I'm pleased to report that very much like Francisco Franco, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is still dead. In the couple of days since his passing, I've been struck by a hilarious bit of stock video that shows up on all the networks, but that no one seems to have commented on.  It appears to be maybe 20 or 30 seconds worth of Zarqawi produced stock footage, with him firing some kind of automatic weapon, perhaps an AR-15.  Scary terrorist!

But it's apparent even from his own promotional video what an incompetent idiot the guy was.  Someone has to step in from offscreen to clear the chamber of his weapon for him.  This is supposed to be the most fearsome terrorist going, and the little bitch can't even fire his own goddam rifle for a photo op without someone holding his hand.

Then he is, as Bugs Bunny might say, such a ma-roon that he's putting such fumbling out as promotional footage.  I've seen that bit of footage probably 30 times now, and I'm laughing harder every time I see it.  It's like he was too stupid to know how to take a whiz without someone to hold his peter for him - and didn't even realize it.  I laugh derisively at al-Zarqawi and his deceased peter.

Also, new details are emerging now several days later about his Waterloo.  It appears that two 500 pound bombs dropped on his house did not immediately kill this cockroach.  That is one fairly tenacious insect.  Keith Richards couldn't survive THAT.  Iraqi police got there first, and then the Americans showed up.  Apparently, he was past any point of talking, but he still had enough presence to try to crawl off his stretcher to get away from the Americans before finally losing consciousness.

That's outstanding as far as I'm concerned.  I had no especial desire to see him tortured, and I'm glad that he's good and thoroughly certifiably goddam dead.  But I'm glad that he survived just long enough to know that Team America absolutely owned his dumb ass.

Unreformed hawkish Hoosier hillbilly and sometimes candidate Al Barger runs the still squeezin' down the psychodelic Kentucky moonshine at MoreThings.com, what with the paranoid religious visions and the Pentacostal music and visions of God and Sarah Palin and anarchy running amok and such. Somebody oughta call the cops to report his out of control freedom of conscience. Till they come to take him away somewhere where he can't hurt anyone else, you can check out his weekly column of NEW ALBUM RELEASES.

Wait a second Al....... if people on our side )you know people who aren't absolutely hell bent on painting the iraq war in a negative light regardless of what facts may arise and denying bush any credit for anything positive that may come of it at all costd)are claiming that Zarqawi's death is such a good thing because he was a top al queda strategist and a very effective one at that we can't also then call the guy a moron incapable of using his open weapon.

Either he was a brilliant terrorist mastermind and his death has at least some significance to what will happen in Iraq or he was an overhyped moron whose death means nothing to the course of events in iraq yet to unfold. We can't have it both ways.

Interesting point, Arch. I'm voting MORON on this guy. You don't have to be a genius to kill people. He killed people and caused a lot of chaos, but that was a function largely of pure ruthlessness. He wasn't much smart, but an idiot can show up and just start shooting people- though this guy would need help for even that. His noteworthy achievement is that he was luckier than average to survive a couple of years before getting squished.

In his case, he was an idiot with some backing. His chaos served the strategies of multiple people and groups opposed to Iraqi rebuilding, so he had some support.

Al, I guess Zarqawi joins that list with Generalissimo Francisco Franco.

"Still dead?" I guess the DNA came back positive, huh?

Is he still all dead or still mostly dead?

"Is he still all dead?" As DeNiro said to Samuel L Jackson regarding Melanie in Jackie Brown, "pretty much."
