Ann Coulter-Gate And The Fall Of The Democratic Party
Published June 11, 2006
The reviews are in for Ann Coulter’s new book, Godless: The Church of Liberalism, and apparently officials from the Democratic party are not too impressed:
"Perhaps her book should have been called 'Heartless’...[It’s] unimaginable that anyone in the public eye could launch a vicious, mean-spirited attack on people whom I've known over the last four and a half years to be concerned deeply about the safety and security of our country." US Senator Hillary Clinton (D- NY).So the Democrats hate the book. At least they’re not claiming that Coulter speaks for the Republican party."Ms. Coulter's shameless attack on the victims of the worst act of terrorism in American history can only engender disgust...Her bookselling antics and accompanying vulgarity deserve our deepest contempt...Her foul remarks trivialize the deaths of every single person who died that terrible day, including...those brave police officers and firefighters who ran into those burning buildings." US Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).
"[Coulter’s] hate-filled attack on the patriotic heroes of 9/12 — the widows of 9/11 — [is] reprehensible and undignified...Americans shouldn't contribute to her profiting from these vicious remarks." Former US Representative Tim Roehmer (D-Ind), 9/11 Commissioner.
"I must ask my colleagues on the other side of the aisle: Does Ann Coulter speak for you when she suggests poisoning...Supreme Court Justices or slanders the 9/11...widows? If not, speak now. Your silence allows her to be your spokesman." Representative Rahm Emmanuel (D-Ill).Come again, Mr. Emmanuel? Are you contending that Ann Coulter — whose first four books sold fewer than 2 million copies cumulatively — represents the Republican party?
At this point, it’s safe to say that the Democrat party is a joke. After all, Representative Emmanuel’s ridiculous bombast was delivered on the same day that the notorious terrorist, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, swallowed 1000 pounds of American justice — the explosive kind, that is. Meanwhile, Emmanuel’s Democrat compatriots were calling Zarqawi’s death a stunt:
"‘This (news of Zarqawi’s death) is just to cover Bush's [rear] so he doesn't have to answer’ for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers,' said Rep. Pete Stark, California Democrat. ‘Iraq is still a mess — get out.’" Washington TimesUnfortunately, the representative’s glib remarks have become all too typical of the Democrat party, whose collective voice has been reduced to an incessant whining in recent years. Presumably, a great number of their constituents now find themselves in a desperate search for representation.

Apolitico,
Strange you bring up Michael Moore. When was the last time the Republican Party called on their Democratic counterparts to condemn him. Presently, the Democrats are circulating a letter for all to sign, condemning Ann Coulter while demanding an apology. It's a great way to spend their tax paid time. You can read about it at Newsday.com.
Seriously, a concerted effort by Democratic officials doesn't compare to conservatives at home who can't stand Moore.
WHAT IS A HARPIE
I'm not defending the Democrats wasting time with apology petitions, just pointing out the hypocrisy. If any liberal pundit ever made the sort of comment about the 9/11 widows like Coulter did you better believe there would be hell to pay.
two Posts in two days by this writer, both with Coulter as the link
partisan and a fanboi?
find better material, imo...cuz the gonzo Rule is..
"if Coulter's the link, the Poster's a dink"
Excelsior?
Dr. Politico aspires to be Blogcritics version of Ann Coulter... and he's doing an excellent job.
In another one of his shit-spewing posts, Dr. Policito wrote: "...I think the ultra-illiberals would prefer news of Americans dying."
QUIZ TIME: If a MAN is hot for Coulter, does that mean he's gay?
Yeah Hillary cares so much about the 911 victims that the nyc firefighters and policemen felt the need to boo her when she came onstage at a concert to raise money for 911 victims at Madison Square garden. There are two types of voters in new york............those that know hillary doesn't give a damn about new yorkers because she is just using new york to set up her pres run and they hate her for it and would never vote for her.......and then there are the ones who know that hillary doesn't give a damn about new yorkers because she is just using new york to set up her pres run and they love her because they share her whacked out far left views
I fail to see how the Dems have the moral high ground on treating people as it is play number one in thier book to personally demonize anyone who disagrees witht hem. "Oh you'd don't agree with us? BIGOT!!!! ............What's that you say... you have a different opinion than ours and you don't think it should be done this way? FACIST!!!!!!!!!!" etc etc etc
Ann Coulter new book, Godless is driving the Harpies away!
Her summation on the cause and effect of a few individuals, who seemingly get the spotlight of a purposed mass frenzy media, the shark tank of news networks, and there one sided viewpoint. Ann has in effect turn the table and exposed in an appropriate way what they have actually done. Yet, still with verve and wit she delivers an almost kill stroke to their sleight of hand meddling, showing how the liberal corporate driven grieve -arrazzi pundits operate. In an frontal attack, a straight punch is the best and Ann delivers the knockout of them all. Damon Runyon might have said, "Wow, can she swing".

The Boreads, in Greek mythology, were Calais and Zetes. They were the sons of Boreas and Oreithyia, daughter of King Erechtheus of Athens. They were winged heroes.
They were Argonauts and played a particularly vital role in the rescue of Phineas from the harpies. They succeeded in driving the monsters away but did not kill them, at a request from the goddess of the rainbow, Iris, who promised that Phineas would not be bothered by the harpies again. As thanks, Phineas told the Argonauts how to pass the Symplegades.
I can't believe anyone takes a word Coulter says seriously. This is the same woman who stated that the Jews were responsible for the Holocaust. She has the mind of an angry 12-year old: black & white thinking, pissed off, and hormonally imbalanced.
Give her neither defense nor attention.
my favorite is still her on Canadien TV asking why the Canadiens weren't backing us up and joining the Iraq war like they did in Viet Nam...the interviewer patiently explained they were NOT in Name...she argued with him for minutes, getting hot under the collar...it was wonderful...
to me, the worst blunder she made was on C_SPAN, talking up her first book...when asked about the genocide of Native Americans , she claimed "well there were only about 100,000 and they weren't using the country right anyway"
priceless idiocy
Excelsior?
She had a good turn on Harball when she said George C Scott refused to attend the Oscars becauase as a Hollywood liberal he was embarrassed he made a war hero look so good. Of course, the fact that he said from the outset that he disagreed with actors competing against each other was conveinently ignored.
but then that's not fair because conservative women who hide behind their words are too frail to defend them against mean ole Matthews.
You can bash Coulter all you want but she is right on this issue. Lefties are using these women as politcal fodder and then saying no one is allowed to critique anything they say.
"You can bash Coulter all you want but she is right on this issue. Lefties are using these women as politcal fodder and then saying no one is allowed to critique anything they say."
You mean like how the right used Terry Schiavo? At least the 9/11 widows can think and speak for themselves.
Who said you can't critique the 9/11 widows? The first I've ever heard of it was when Broomstick Arms brought it up and now every person on the right joins in lockstep behind her?
apples and oranges politico...
the terri schiavo incident was to save her life not to hold her up as a spokesperson for a political ideology and claim she was infallible because she was a victim...
nice try though
who said you can't roger? hmm
them
i'm pointing to my left...
pretty much everyone in the mainstream media and leftist stars like hillary,
that's the acme of hypocrisy... hillary clinton telling someone else they should be ashemd of thier mean spirited attacks on people..... the only difference is hillarys attacks are much more covert
Apolitico,
"You mean like how the right used Terry Schiavo?"
That was pretty shameful. I'd only point out that there were democrats standing on the front lines as well (admittedly, much less of them).
BTW, nice, original name you got there.
"BTW, nice, original name you got there."
I considered going the wrestling route and calling myself Dr. Politico #2 but then remembered that I'm usually apolitical due to my disdain for both parties.
"apples and oranges politico..."
Sorry, Arch, but they're still fruit from the same tree. I suppose instead of Terry Schiavo I could have used a better example like how the current administration and its supporters have gone out of their way to stigmatize and villify pretty much every critic of them and their Iraq war policies with everything from calling critics "unamerican" and "giving comfort to the enemy", or how they too have shamelessly exploited 9/11 for their own political benefit. But then somehow I suspect you probably agree with those sentiments.
"the terri schiavo incident was to save her life not to hold her up as a spokesperson for a political ideology"
Sure, it was all about saving this one woman's life and had nothing to do with a political agenda. Right. Would you like some snacks to go along with your Kool Aid?
and the pendulum swings further to the right
What if Ann Coulter is destined to become the biological mother of the AntiChrist? What are we to do?
I'm pretty sure her ovaries are dried up and resemble peach pits.
Dave
"What if Ann Coulter is destined to become the biological mother of the AntiChrist? What are we to do?"
Make Michael Savage marry her and make an honest woman out of her.
Well the anti-christ is supposed to be a man and not an asexual power hungry something like a woman so I guess Hillary is out. Unless Bill becomes head of the UN and the UN becomes much much more powerful than he already is he's out too. Al Gore is too stupid and lacking the necessary charm to be the antichrist.
Damn I was sure the antichrist would come from camp Clinton.
Oh well I guess we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled.
I agree that Coulter shouldn't be taken as an example of a typical Republican - I fall to the far left on most issues and even I wouldn't expect the average neo-con to fall for Coulter's bullshit.
Still though, you shouldn't write off her two million in book sales on her first four books as a small number. That works out to 250,000 copies per book, which - while it may be small compared to sales in other mediums and to the population at large - is still a pretty good amount of sales as far as books go.
I have many friends both republican and democrat and the one of thing that scares me most about this whole thing is when people say that Ann is right. People are a reflexing of who they are and what has happened to them. If I understand correctly people are sick of people who use personal tragedy to advance political ideas. Come on get real it happens all the time since the beginning of this country maybe even the world. Do you want to argue wether this is right or wrong ? Ann has every right to her opinions and as a Democrats I defend her freedom of speech. With that said I don't believe people should shut off their brains when they hear something like this. If someone can please give me a good reason why people have to shut off their lives before making a political statement please explain. I like the argument better when its explain that she is the rights answer to Michael Moore. Both of them have their opinions and use selective facts to prove points. The right and the left are bitching at each other and both sides are guilty. Remember Terri Schiavo. I followed that case and can see similar things in her case. I only say this because 100's of people in her situation each year end their lives without any uproar or concern from Washington. As a Democrats I believe that most people, left or right, don't feel the same way as Ann does. As I have found out from reading some of these blogs that their are some people that do. I do wish that the Republicans would adopt her as their spokes person because I think people will ultimately reject this argument and it will help the Democrates.
Ann Coulter is an attention grabbing nut. Case closed.
What I find actually disturbing is the tendency for writers, bloggers, and editorialists to add fuel to the fire that is the polarization of America. So a democrat says something silly, oh oh oh it is a sure sign of how the democratic party is disconnected from reality. Yeah, because we all know that all liberals are really just one hive mind without sigular opinions. Just like all republicans are war mongers and psycho christians.
GET REAL MAN!
Only the media profits from reducing all individuals to one political party vs another.
Ann Coulter (and Dr. Politico for that matter) is just another example of the loud mouths on the extreme ends of the spectrum drowning out the moderate majority in the middle. The only entity that profits from this madness is the media itself.
"who said you can't roger? hmm
them
i'm pointing to my left..."
just for once it would be nice if you had some facts rather than just typing words to make your point. Who on the left said you couldn't criticize the 9/11 widows? Give me one example over the years where someone on the left said that. Just one is all I ask.
Everyone on the right is agreeing, yet why is this the first time someone has said anything about it? People are criticizing Broomstick Arms for her personal attacks not her criticisms.
I agree with Ann on this. These women are chosen by liberals and the left wing media because they espouse the views that are consistent with the agenda. Their victim status supposedly gives them credibility.
It might be interesting to hear from the other two-thousand nine hundred and ninety-six widowed spouses what they think of gay marriage. But we don't. Not because conservatives aren't willing to stoop to the level of exploiting victim/shills, but because Vanity Fair magazine is politically biased.
Of course Ann revels in being irreverent to the sort of propaganda that is being foisted. That's why she's hated. And why she's loved.
I share her disgust. When I see the carefully crafted, sullen, glamour shots of the four millionaire opportunists, I'm sickened. I pray that my wife would never use my murder for any political purpose. For either side. It's just really bad form.

Ever notice of late that whenever a conservative commentator begins spouting off stuff so outrageous it could be a black eye for conservatives, partisans like Dr. Politico take the stance that the conservative big mouth in question is someone nobody listens and it's all a big to do about nothing on the part of liberals and the media? Pat Robertson calls for the assassination of another world leader and conservative pundits declare that Robertson is a has-been that nobody listens to anymore and yields little political influence. Yeah right. Now there's a BS article like this about Ann Coulter and her insignificance. Amazing how it's easier to blame the other side rather than denounce the person on your own. You scoff heartily if someone on the liberal side tried to write an article like this about Michael Moore. Forget Democratic whining; how about that Republican hypocrisy?
You are right about the current Democratic party is a joke. You just left out the part about the current Republican party being a disgrace.
