Bolt Announces Auditions For "Online Band"
Published June 06, 2006
Bolt is now holding auditions for what they're billing as the "first ever exclusively online band." Bolt is an interactive media website which allows you to store and share your movies, files, music, and photos. The company has been around for 10 years and claims to have created some of the most popular youth-oriented sites online.
In this newest venture the company has launched a contest for musicians. The contest is open to anyone who can record and submit a demo of himself or herself interacting with a guitar track supplied by the company. The idea is to build your own contribution to the track either on whatever instrument that you play, or as a vocal interpretation.
Once you have created your own piece of the song, you are expected to record it with the guitar track using a multi-track recording system. Don't have one of those lying around? That's okay; Bolt suggests Audacity, a free open-source recording and editing tool.
The contest is divided into five time periods with one particular instrument being focused on in each:
May 23-28: Drummer
May 30-June 4 : Bass
June 6-11: Lead Guitar
June 13-18: Wild Card
June 20-25: Lead Singer
Judging the contest each week is the band Three Days Grace. In addition to having their tracks added to the song the winners will also recieve a $900 gift certificate.
The time for submissions from drummers and bass players has already expired, but for you guitarists, singers, and keyboard/tuba players, the game is still on. So if you want to strut your stuff in the virtual world and take a shot at being part of the Bolt Band, go get started.
