BCRadio - May 29, 2006
Published May 30, 2006
It's a Memorial Day edition of BCRadio. I continue to champion my belief that "firecrotch" is an invaluable part of the English language and adds to any podcast. Mary Williams wraps up another season of 24 and Eric Olsen sings...again. Matt Sussman and I talk some NBA and Jon Sobel makes his return to BCRadio to discuss indie music.

You weren't excluded, Joan. Time just ran out. Besides, when have you ever NOT had BIG IMPORTANT THINGS to discuss? =)
You're welcome back at poolside anytime.
It appears some are ignored, which is certainly a precuresor to being excluded. Wondering why that is. (If anyone can speak to that, please email me privately. I just put the comment here because all my emails regarding BC radio have been, well, ignored.)
NR Davis
NRD, I have not intentionally ignored any e-mail addressed to me as far as participating on BCRadio and I do apologize. I don't recall ever having received an e-mail from you, personally, but allow me to extend my apologies as well as an invitation to join the fray. I would love to have you on the show anytime.
I would be happy to e-mail you privately to discuss your areas of interest and to arrange a time to get you on the program.
Saleski, I thought of you when I put the remix together. You and Sahm. It was a lot of fun. I might work on "It's a Small World..." for next week if I get a chance.
Really? I sent four separate emails to you at the end of April, Mr. DJRadiohead (the subject of the misives was the April Al Stewart feature, per Eric Olsen's suggestion). Perhaps the address I have for you is inaccurate, but nothing was received by or bounced back to me. In any event, it's old news. I look forward to hearing from you.
ms. davis, you need to preface emails to the dj with "hey shithead!"...at least that how i get his attention.
that or some ugly swipe at Elliot Smith.
Mr. Saleski, it's that kind of nonsense that will cost you your BCRadio slot in favor of someone else. Don't be a dick, dude. I would hate to have to smite you.
NRD, I probably wouldn't have associated an Al Stewart e-mail with BCRadio and might have overlooked it. I don't recall but it was probably my mistake. I will certainly get an e-mail sent to you soon to discuss a future appearance on the show.
Actually, the subject line of all four emails was "BC radio." Al Stewart was the subject matter EO had suggested as it was topical at that time. Would it have helped if I'd said that Elliott Smith was/is one of my heroes? (Which is true.) ;)
Praising Elliott Smith would have made me very happy but like I said this has all been a misunderstanding and technical snafu of sorts so I don't suppose it would have helped.
You see that, Saleski? Another Elliott Smith fan infiltrating BCRadio.
I have sent an e-mail to the address I have for you, ND. Looking forward to having you on the show soon. We just so happen to have an opening (firing off a glare in the general direction of Saleski). =)
Since you sent me Springsteen and Springsteen-related CDs you are forgiven and reinstated. Besides, you see how well my powers of banishment worked with Sussman.
true...i sent you enough that i should at least get a one week pass.
While I should shut my mouth as I've been good so far this week I ought to point out that a pilgrimage to Huntsville should merit ownership of a Get Out of Bannination™ For Free card.
Huntsville pilgrimage will pay handsomely at the time of its arrival, Suss.
I cannot wait until some day I can again be on BC Radio.
I missed out, again :(
"We cover both movies and DVDs."
Always gotta love the inside joke.
Ken, this week is on me (again). You shall be returned to the fold.
And just for Erin, I have updated the iTunes feed. I did it last night- just turns out I did it wrong. I think it is fixed now. iTunes users, rejoice!
DJR - you are taking quite a beating this week. Sorry I missed you last week - although I do so thoroughly enjoy the remix - my apologies to everyone else. My voice and cackling in a remix is really quite horrifying.
Dawn, your absence was noted and mourned. The remix only helped get us by until this week when some other celebrity will be our new target.
Mystery solved: The on-top-of-things Mr. DJRadiohead is without blame in the email-a-gogo nightmare. Turns out I was given the wrong e-dress for him.
I blame Matt Sussman for the NRD/DJR technical glitch. He is behind all things evil and bad.
Evil and bad I tell you!
I still want my $50, Josh. And send another cabana boy! (I wore this one out already)
$50? I'm still waiting for my Taj Mahal CD. That would be The Essential Taj Mahal. Essential. I am boycotting you until I get my songs! Or- OK, so I'm not boycotting you until then. But I'm not sending you $50. And no more cabana boys until you learn to take better care of the ones you already have. =P
After listening to the full episode last night, I'm convinced we need a new segment on the show:
"What Won't Eric Olsen Sing?"
I think we need to pick up on BCRadio Idol and make everyone sing. I'll play the role of Simon and tell you all it was ghastly.
You pick the songs, I'll insult you. We'll make millions.
and that will be fun, too. William Huang made money being that terrible.
Well now I finally had a chance to listen. God Bless EO for his ability to just let go and sing it out - loud and proud! And I agree, the lower key suits him better.
Good Job Sir DJ.
If only had an instrumental track to The Prodigy's "Firestarter." We could the Olsens to cut a track called "Firecrotch." Dawn could cackle, EO could sing. I could produce. Millions.

I strongly object to my exclusion from this podcast, particularly since I emailed you last week saying I had BIG IMPORTANT THINGS to discuss.
Of course, now you'll just have to take a number as I give all others preference over you. Harumph!
(Consider me stomping my foot, turning on my heel, and marching off into a fiery sunset with my NEWER cabana boy.)
