The Da Vinci Code
Despite the intriguing historical implications and captivating theories about Da Vinci and his connection to the Holy Grail, The Da Vinci Code falls far short of expectations, relying on cheap Hollywood tricks rather then the inherent fascination of its subject matter to propel the contrived plot forward.

#8 — June 13, 2006 @ 12:11PM — gonzo marx

Dancinpup..have you read the book or seen the movie yourself?

and a bit of a clue for you, yelling is not a good way to gain interaction or response...rather thoughtful expression of your viewpoint is more likely to be read and talked with than petulant, all caps demands

just trying to help

Gonzo speaks wisely Dancinpup. Heed his words.

Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid. It's only a movie.

o.....kay?

#17 — June 13, 2006 @ 16:57PM — duane

I read the da Vinci Code but didn't understand it. Something about a museum and some old guy vacationing in Paris. I would rather vacation where they have the common courtesy to speak English. So I thought the book sucked eggs. Paris is really expensive and full of obknock ... obnoc ... obbnoctius .. umm ... rude tourists. Now, excuse me. I have to go find the schedule for the local theater to see when The Omen is playing. I think they go to Italy, a much better vaction spot. Although they don't speak English for some reason.

#18 — June 13, 2006 @ 17:00PM — gonzo marx

duane...stop...plz....OMG!

i call you killer , cuz ya slay me!

#19 — June 13, 2006 @ 17:10PM — Dancinpup [URL]

I haven't seen or read the book but my mom said it is all junk

#20 — June 13, 2006 @ 21:47PM — gonzo marx

Dancinpup...did she read the book?

my point here is...unless you have read it, it is very difficult to take your opinion on it seriously...

that would be like someone who has never even seen a car talk about the difficulty of Le Mans racing and critique the Gran Prix

just sharing...

#21 — June 13, 2006 @ 21:56PM — Steve

I saw the movie, and now am thankful I never got the book. If the movie is anything like the book, all I can say is, it's VERY overrated. I would give the movie...55%.

#22 — June 13, 2006 @ 22:02PM — gonzo marx

for the Record, i have only read the book, will wait for the movie to come on cable...and Thought the book, formulaic and a bit shallow in character development...

if you are interested in a thesis quality work on the source material...try Holy Blood, Holy Grail , which is more fo an indexed dissertation putting out a few theories based on documented facts found, sprinkled with well marked conjecture and speculations amidst the documented information

in other words..."DaVinci Code" halfway decent beach read, or long plane ride...."HB,HG" informative treatise, denser reading if your will..but much more compelling and thought provoking...
