Raconteurs, Hoobastank, T Bone Burnett: New Album Releases, Week of 5-16-2006

The nation rejoices: The Raconteurs Broken Boy Soldiers is out today. A grateful nation gives thanks for a new album from Jack White and pals. "Steady As She Goes" will give you the real guitar rock you need, and make you forget about some crappy Pearl Jam nonsense.

T-Bone Burnett gives us The True False Identity. He really seems like more of a supporting player rather than any visionary songwriter or musician in his own regard. He's been involved with some very good records — but I can't remember much from any record of his.

Hoobastank have a new product, Every Man for Himself. They're following up a big hit and this is one of the most prominent new releases of the week, so I ought to say something about them. But they're so nothing and bland that I can't even conjure up decent mockery. You win this round, Hoobastank.

Here's the complete list of this week's major new releases, courtesy AMG:

Unreformed hawkish Hoosier hillbilly and sometimes candidate Al Barger runs the still squeezin' down the psychodelic Kentucky moonshine at MoreThings.com, what with the paranoid religious visions and the Pentacostal music and visions of God and anarchy running amok and such. Somebody oughta call the cops to report his out of control freedom of conscience. Till they come to take him away somewhere where he can't hurt anyone else, you can check out his weekly column of NEW ALBUM RELEASES.

Al--must I remind you? T-Bone Burnett with Elvis Costello--a side project as the Coward Brothers ("The People's Limousine").
