Teddy Too?
Published May 10, 2006
I found it simply astounding that Ted Kennedy would have the degree of oblivion to name one of his pet dogs Splash. However today in the Boston Globe an even more astounding example of Kennedy oblivion is pointed out by Jeff Jacoby. Speaking on the April 23 Meet the Press, our senior senator was asked about potential consequences of the precipitate withdrawal of US forces from Iraq that he advocates.
A portion of the transcript:
MR. RUSSERT: If we got out and there was a civil war, chaos, and you saw al-Qaida moving in record numbers and Zarqawi exerting great control over the country, would you go back in?SEN. KENNEDY: Well, first of all, I heard the same kinds of suggestions at the time of the end of the Vietnam War, the great blood bath, we're going to have over 100,000 people that were going to be murdered and killed at that time. And for those of us that were strongly opposed to the war, heard those same kinds of arguments at the time.
Here Teddy consigns to oblivion the killing fields of Cambodia, the summary executions in Saigon, the re-education camps, and the experiences of millions of 'boat people' who risked prison and death at sea from nature and pirates in order to escape from Vietnam. Can't he quite remember what events caused the influx of Vietnamese immigrants to the US after 1975?
Significant loss of memory is indicated here. Perhaps Ted should follow the sterling example of his nephew, Patrick, and check himself into rehab.

I stand corrected on the first point. Regarding your second point, don't trouble yourself, Arch (A perfect name. Just call me Meathead). It's a concept called sarcasm.
h
It's Arch Conservative not Archie Bunker. Despite that, anyone who thinks what Patrick Kennedy has done is couragous and/or honest and that he is a role model, is a first class meathead.
American military personnel fleeing Vietnam under fire led to tens of thousands of South Vietnamese allies and civilians being killed at the hands of Communists (the same Communists John F-ing Kerry "negotiated" with in Paris, while still a member of the US armed forces, arguably a treasonous act).
No wonder Ted Kennedy supported him in 2004, and wants him to run in 2008!
"...(the same Communists John F-ing Kerry "negotiated" with in Paris, while still a member of the US armed forces, arguably a treasonous act)."
Kerry's two tours in Vietnam - being awarded three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star - earned him the right to take a stand against an unjust war.
GW Bush used another form of protest, deserting from his last two years of cushy Guard service in Alabama and Texas, while someone else - who couldn't afford to buy their way out of Vietnam - died in his place over there, face down in the mud.
What I've always wondered is, if Bush was so opposed to serving in combat, why didn't he just get a medical deferment for poor eyesight or asthma like you-know-who? Or for an ingrown hair on his ass, like Rush Limbaugh?
MCH:
Good to see you're still more interested in attacking ideological enemies than actual murderous Communist military enemies...
Just like back in Hawaii in the '70s, right? When you were too busy with the billiards and softball teams to volunteer for service in Vietnam?
HAND.
Mocking my mediocre service (although it is more than you'll ever do) doesn't bother me, Elliott, since you've degraded braver men than myself, ie, comparing Max Cleland to a "giant thalidamide baby."

Ted Kennedy is Patrick Kennedys father not his uncle.
Second what's this sterling example bullshiut? He only decided to go into rhab after 2 accidents in the past 2 months and an impending scandal.
