TV Review: The Colbert Report - Connie Chung
Published March 22, 2006
Yesterday was the third anniversary of the war in Iraq. Many only see the devastation and how bad things are; they do not see that this means only one more year. Monday on The Colbert Report, Stephen reminded us how all the best wars lasted four years, be it the Civil War (1861-1865) or US involvement in World War II (1941-1945). There are always tough times during war, but in the end, the benefits that go down in the history books are all that is important.
Yesterday, at 1:36 was the start of Spring. But Spring, or more broadly change, isn't good, as Mr. Colbert points out. Let us not cast away the Winter we are used to for the unsure dangerous season of Spring. This led to last evening's word "Stop it." Stephen went on to say, "Spring brings avalanches, mudslides, tornadoes, and floods and that is just California". But there is one large danger that Stephen failed to mention. Bears reappear during this "Spring." These dangerous animals awake hungry and blood thirsty. So beware America, I encourage everyone to exercise their right to bear arms.
With Spring comes a wave of "Movies That Are Destroying America". Atop the list was Johnny Depp's Libertine. He is an icon to kids and the strong sexuality of the movie will drive them even more out of control. She's a Man, a movie staring Nickelodeon's Amanda Bynes, was also high on the list for its ties to William Shakespeare. X-men III made the list by having posters that say "Stand up" but clearly have the mutants leaning against objects.
The guest was none other than the great Connie Chung. No matter what news channel you watch, you have seen her everywhere, from CNN to her most recent job on MSNBC. She is an incredibly smart woman. She made a point to tell Stephen he is brilliant very early in the interview. She reported she had actually quit many of her jobs apparently, as Stephen pointed out, so she could find someone to fire her.
At the end of the show we find Stephen standing beside his bookshelf of beloved items. He mentioned Jessica Simpson dissing the President and I am sure you can guess how Stephen felt about that. He then removed her album and a pair of very short shorts from his shelf and placed them in the trash. Miss Simpson, you were nailed.

This the typical kind of post that is too thin for a foreigner. I can feel it's clever, I can feel there is second degree, but at the end I think that I have to buy a better dictionnary. Or to move in America...
Well, not a very intersting comment, I know.
