Elayne Boosler: Actress, Comedian and Animal-Lover
Published March 18, 2006
Elayne Boosler has graced television and theater screens for many years. Among her many roles, she's been Joy, a blind woman from hell on Night Court and a comedic therapist on Sisters.
As a comedian, she has been on just about every stage with a microphone. These days, Elayne is combining her comedy with her love for animals. At every performance, the aftershow profits go to a local animal rescue group.
Her love of animals started as a child while living in Brooklyn, New York. The family had a pet boxer that she adored. Her love for boxers continues to this day. Elayne has a rescued boxer named Shnuffy, as well as Wiley, a black lab; he's her dog by marriage - he came along with her husband Bill.
Elayne has a site that raises awareness and funds for her animal foundation, Tails Of Joy. She has a store on this site and all profits go to the animals. Tails has helped groups and individuals.
I got to know Elayne through a celebrity charity auction I put together for a rescue group. She not only donated amazing items, she also provided the group with some theraputic blankets for the dogs - several boxes full of handmade blankets. Elayne never does anything in a small way.
I've learned a lot from Elayne; she is talented, funny, and really smart. She is great with advice and isn't afraid to be direct. Elayne is an actress, singer, animal activist, and feminist. She's been around a really long time, I believe George Washington was her biggest fan when she first started out. Elayne doesn't have any plans on retirement, so I'm sure she will be performing in your area sometime soon.
