Some points were interesting: 1) Educated Chinese women having a hard time finding a worthy man 2) Is China our home or is America our home (for returnees/ABCs) 3) What is more important for the Chinese woman in a modern society, love or money? But besides that, I found the characters shallow and fake, and hard to like. Even Niu Niu herself seems fake, trying too hard to pose as a Chinese to "return to her roots." Also, her local characters of BeiBei and LuLu actually reminded me of how happy I am to be westerinzed.
