TV Review: 24 is a Killing Machine
Published March 12, 2006
I've finally finished the double episode of 24 from this week. All I can say is that show is a death trap for actors/characters. This week Edgar Stiles bought the farm. My wife's students told her in class that she'd cry during the show. So we both were like, "what?" until five minutes left and I said, "Oh no, Edgar is going to die." I could tell when he took off to find the missing CTU woman. It was pretty darn sad. And I did shed a tear for the poor sap. Edgar and his lisp will be missed.
The show is a roller-coaster ride. Seeing a sprinting Curtis carrying the Centox gas canister as it was about to unleash hell got my blood flowing. Norma made a good point though as I cried out, "No!!! Not Curtis, he's Jack Junior... he can't die!" She said, "He's the only black guy left on the show; he's not going anywhere." Of course, she was right... thank god! He is tough as nails.
The "Kim Bauer Returns" episode was really anything but that. That was just a diversion by the writers. It was all about CTU being invaded and 40% of the people in the LA Terrorist unit dying in the Centox cloud unleashed by the Chechnian rebels. As I said in the title of this article: "24 is a Killing Machine." The show just doesn't mess around.
So who will sacrifice themselves for the team next week? The previews show Jack risking his life by entering the contaminated air to get the detonation device. That's a good choice, seeing that we know Jack can never die. He has been killed many times, but always comes back to life. But they hint someone gets it.
My guess... jerkoff/idiot Lynn. It's the least he can do for being a complete jerk and not reporting his key card missing. But, it could very well be Tony. He has nothing to live for now, except to maybe hunt down some Chechnian terroristic ass and unleash hell to avenge his hot wife's death in the first episode.
Regardless of who they kill off next, I'll be watching as ALWAYS.
